After months of speculation, theNintendo Switch 2’s release date and price have finally been revealed. Luckily for Nintendo fans, it’s coming soon and at a cost that won’t break the bank, which should make it a hot item this summer.
There have been countless rumors regarding the Nintendo Switch 2’s launch window and pre-order times. Most leakers agree that it was coming out in the summer and wouldn’t be a holiday season 2025 item, but the exact date varied from person to person.
Deltarune Chapters 1-4 Coming To Nintendo Switch 2 At Launch
It was revealed during the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct that Deltarune Chapters 1-4 are coming to the system when it launches on August 01, 2025.
The first Nintendo Switch 2 Direct (now available on the Nintendo of America YouTube channel) confirms that the system will launch on August 01, 2025. A further press release issued by Nintendo confirms that the price tag for the system at launch will be $449.99 USD. There is also a bundle for $499.99 which includes Mario Kart World as a digital download.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Is Keeping The Price Down
The $449.99 price tag is about what most pundits expected. This is due to some harsh lessons from history, most notably learned by Sony with the PlayStation 3, as a console with a high cost at launch tends to have a very small adoption rate.
Instead, companies have to be willing to take a loss on the hardware up front, to get the systems into people’s hands, where they’ll start buying the games. This is where companies like Nintendo and Sony make their money back.
The low price point for the Nintendo Switch 2 means there should be a high adoption rate at launch, especially as it comes bundled with a code for Mario Kart World. The only surprising aspect is that the new Mario Kart is so cheap in the separate bundle, considering how big a seller Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was for the previous Switch. Regardless, there should be plenty of fans (and scalpers) ready when the pre-orders go live.
