Quick Links
It’s time for things to get real inNinja Gaiden: Ragebound. The typicalNinja Gaidenplot macguffin has been evoked, and it’s time to hunt down three Crystals. This means you’re going to have to do battle with some pretty intindimating demons, one of which is Obsidrae.
At first glance, there doesn’t seem to be an obvious way to deal her meaningful damage. But worry not because myNinja Gaiden: Ragebound’s Obsidrae guideis here to help.

9 Best Shadow Dropped Games Of All Time
Nothing beats the excitement of a shadow drop, especially when it’s one of these games.
I’ll cover her mechanics, abilities I had equipped that aided me in battle, and the proper strategy to defeat her and keep yourside-scrolling adventuremoving forward.

Abilities Equipped
At this point in the game, you should have full access to Muramasa’s Store. This means you’ll be able to spend the golden scarabs you’ve acquired to obtain new talismans that grant you abilities, powerful new spider weapons, and ragebound attacks.
Here’s what I was using to defeat Obsidrae:
Talismans/Secret Arts
Blood Frenzy - Talisman
Bearer recovers health each time an enemy is defeated during a kill streak greater than 3.
Last Stance - Talisman
Melee damage increases 75% when health is low.
Kama - Secret Art
A curved blade weapon that slices through foes with a swift arching motion, cutting through multiple enemies in its path.
Kunai barrage - Ragebound

Throws a barrage of charged kunai which explode when hitting an enemy.
Last Stance is nice to deal extra damage while health is low, while Kunai barrage is fantastic for finishing off the boss. I’m not the biggest fan of using Secret Arts, as it uses my resources and leaves me unavailable to do projectile attacks, which are required at times.

Obsidrae Attack Breakdown
Here’s what you need to know about Obsidrae’s attacks. Make sure you know all of her mechanics, as they’re important to remember to emerge victorious against this challengingNinja Gaiden: Rageboundboss.
Attack Description
Obsidrae spits out projectiles that, when they land, send attacks in both directions.
Avoid it by dodging or jumping.

Obsidrae spits out shellfish, some of which will unlock a hypercharged attack.
Kill these with the proper attack to stun Obisdrae and deal extra damage. They die in two hits.
Obsidrae will melee you if you’re too close with a slashing attack.
Stay out of melee range.
At 75%, she’ll summon tentacles on the ground.
Avoid them or kill them, though they take a few hits. you may also climb the wall to avoid their attacks.
At 50%, she’ll summon more tentacles. They’ll also start throwing their own projectiles at you.
Same deal as before. Avoid them or kill them.
If you stand where you spawn in the boss room, you can easily kill the shells without taking damage.
Obsidrae Strategy
Now that we know what Obsidrae does, how do we beat her in combat? I’m glad you asked; let’s get right to it. She’s adifficult boss, but not impossible.
Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound: How To Beat The Twin Snakes
There’s two of them? This is getting out of hand!
One thing that stood out to me was that Obsidrae is the first fight that isn’t just a simple “swing sword at boss, repeat” type of encounter. I needed to be aware of several things all while performing the mechanic of killing the shellfish.
As a result, it’s important to learn the best ways to avoid her attacks while being in the right place to counterattack. It’s also important to make sure your resource bar is constantly filled so you can projectile down the appropriate shellfish to get a hypercharged attack.
One thing I highly recommend is learning her attack animations. Her animation for summoning tentacles is similar to her melee, but it’s both longer and different. This means you may deal extra damage before you’re ever at risk of getting hit by something.
Beyond that, it’s better to dodge any oncoming attack rather thantry to parrythem. There’s a lot happening that can damage you at the same time, and as a result, one wrong move can lead to you taking more damage than you realize.
I also highly recommend that when she’s summoning both tentacles, the second the animation is over, use your ragebound attack. This means that you’ll take advantage of the boss' open window during her animation while unleashing a powerful attack. This should be enough to finish her off.
