Nightingale: How To Get Pigment & Make Ink

Can’t figure out where to find Pigments to make Refined Pigment in Nightingale? Here’s how.

Players wanting to make Spice will immediately run into a problem. The recipe calls for ‘Raw Spice’ to make Spice but it’s not specified what, exactly, qualifies as Raw Spice. The game doesn’t make a whole lot of sense when it comes to this particular recipe so even logical conclusions might lead you down the wrong road. Here’s what Raw Spices looks like.

How To Get Raw Spice

The recipe for Spice is simple: 1x Raw Spice = 1x Spice. There are three main items that qualify as ‘Raw Spice’.

Do not use Salt as a Spice. You’ll need a ton of it to craft Marinade later down the line and it can be a hard item to get.

Farming Raw Spice

There are two main methods of farming Raw Spice that I’ve discovered so far.

Bound Ichor Farming

Enter any T1 Realm like Provisioner orAstrolabeand use the‘Maleficiate’ Minor Realm Card. This will put the Realm into eternal darkness, summoning Bound monsters at every step. Defeat the bound enemies as they come, and you’ll start stockpiling up on Bound Ichor in no time. Use it to make Spice.

Flower Farming

In the more traditional sense of the word, Nightingale allows players to set up farming plots of land at theirhome base. Process the Flowers you find in the overworld at a Mortar Station andplant the seeds in Plant Boxesto grow your own personal crop. If done properly, this means you won’t have to worry about Spices and Oils ever again.

If you’re in need of just a couple of Spices, you can always buy it off of the local Essence Trader in T1 Essence Realms and above.
