Night School Studio is an indie team best known for their entries into the “Walking Simulator” genre. BothOxenfreeandAfterpartyhave come out of the California based studio and are some of the pioneering games in that genre.Afterpartywas their most recent release, dropping towards at the tail-end of last year, and now, Night School Studio has just revealed their next game -Next Stop Nowhere.Revealed onTwitter,Next Stop NowhereÂappears very much to fit Night School Studio’s mould. The 30-second trailer that accompanied the tweet shows a pair of characters, Beckett and Serra, setting off on an adventure through space to save Serra’s son. The video shows everything we’ve become accustomed to from the studio, with plenty of walking and talking, all in a very unique art-style.
The game’s official listing describes it as:
“Next Stop Nowhereis a road trip adventure story set in a colorful, cutthroat vision of outer space. Play as Beckett, a simple courier living a simple life until a chance encounter with former bounty hunter Serra throws him into an adventure he never expected. And might not survive.
The unlikely allies fly across a dusty, deadly galaxy in a race to save Serraâs son Eddy–dodging gangsters, bounty hunters, and the dangers of deep space along the way. Beckett is in over his head. How he survives–the choices he makes, the relationships he forges, the person he becomes–is up to you.”
Sadly for fans of Night School Studio’s other work, there’s one restriction with the game. It’s launching as an Apple Arcade exclusive. There’s no official word on if the game will be heading to other platforms in the future, however, one thing is for certain. The game is hitting the service “very soon”.
While it’s a shameNext Stop Nowhereis going to be an Apple Arcade Exclusive, Night School Studio’s other games,OxenfreeandAfterparty, are both available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4 and Xbox One and are definitely worth checking out.
