According to the publisher’s summary, the 2023 novel will follow Hytham and Basim as they embark on a mission to foil the emperor’s evil plans of assassinating his son. The ruler of the city is not without aid though, as the notorious Order of the Ancients assists him as he makes schemes to murder his kin.
In response to the Order’s dark schemes, the masters of the Hidden Ones task Hytham and Basim to infiltrate the palace in Constantinople. Alongside this critical mission, Hytham must also unearth his master Basim’s secrets. The Hidden Ones aim to find out the true goals of Basim Ibn Ishaq and whether he is loyal to the brotherhood’s cause. In this dilemma, the readers will follow Hytham as he tries to find a balance between completing his critical mission with his mentor Basim and also serving as a spy for the brotherhood and finding out where the loyalties of the Assassin lie.
The two assassins who first starred in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Norway and England will now fight for the brotherhood’s cause in Constantinople. It is worth noting that the novel is set in 867 though, which is 5 years before the events that take place in the last mainline instalment.
The next mainline entry in the Assassin’s Creed series, Mirage, is rumored to be targeting a release window of August 2023. The new title will follow the story of Basim when it makes its debut on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Amazon Luna, and PC.
