Going naked in films can be both positive and liberating or sometimes embarrassing and hilarious for actors. For example, while going nude forRed Sparrowwas liberating for Jennifer Lawrence, as it helped her deal with insecurities, on the other hand, Kate Winslet finds them awkward. And while it’s not uncommon for actors to bear it all onscreen if the script demands, not every actor is on board with going full-frontal, including Michael Caine.
Speaking of his decision to never go nude in front of the camera, Caine explained it could impact the actor’s control over the audience and asked actors not to go full-frontal nude.
It Can Hinder the Audience’s Concentration Per Michael Caine
Michael Caine, who starred alongsideChristian BaleinThe Dark Knight, went into length about why actors should never do full-frontal nudity. The acclaimed actor reasoned it could hinder the viewer’s concentration, stressing the actor would no longer be able to control the audience as after one goes full frontal naked,“They immediately are not looking where you want”.

Movie Acting is about control and you control you. People don’t know that they’re being controlled, but they’re looking where I say you look and they’re listening to what I.. Say you know uh and the minute you have a full front, not naked. It’s full frontal naked. They immediately are not looking where you want them to look and they are immediately having conversations with each other…Yeah, so never do full frontal nudity
Apart from advising actors against going full-frontal naked to not lose control over the viewers, Caine also once slammed the incorporation of intimacy coordinators in the industry.
Michael Caine Isn’t a Fan of Intimacy Coordinators
In the wake of the #Metoo movement, movie studios began to integrate intimacy coordinators into productions to ensure no foul play is taking place during the filming of intimate scenes. But while they play a major role in making sure the actors feel safe and the s-x scenes are shot in a dignified manner, Michael Caine isn’t fond of this practice.

Caine, who had partaken in his fair share of romantic scenes during his heyday in the industry, recalled there were no interruptions back then, stating everything has changed now.

Really? Seriously? What are they? We never had that in my day. Thank god I’m 90 and don’t play lovers anymore is all I can say. In my day you just did the love scene and got on with it without anyone interfering. It’s all changed.
The Dark Knight star isn’t the lone actor to speak out against intimacy coordinators, as Knives Out actor Toni Collettepreviously shared a similar stance.
It can be distracting for the viewers stressed Michael Caine.
