Kishimoto’s forte is his writing of diverse characters, especially with their persona. Their motives and ambitions outline different hues of the spectrum of characterization. This, however, is often lost in translation.

A perfect example of this is Sasuke Uchiha being labeled as an edgelord by fanatics. More often than not, his intentions are grossly overlooked amidst the criticism. Recently though, most fans took to the Internet to clap back at the unjust criticism.

Through their highlighting of this brilliant detail, they also outlined the stark difference between the manga and the anime. This also ties well with Kishimoto’s finesse, which often gets underappreciated in the process.

Narutofans clap back at unjust hate towards Sasuke

Every Shonen series has its fair share of characters that receive unprecedented hate. To say the least,Narutois no exception to that considering its range of characters. A perfect example of this is the fanbase’s hate toward Sakura Haruno.

As one of the pivotal characters, Sakura received unjustifiable hate from the fandom. This mostly had to do with how her character was portrayed. While female characters are often sidelined as underlings, the hate extends to the main characters as well.

Apart from Sakura,Sasuke Uchihahas been grossly misunderstood by some fans. One of the blatant criticisms regarding the character has to do with his edgy behavior. His progression into villainy is a key aspect that most people fail to understand.

The hate toward his character was aggravated after his actions during the Shippuden series. His treatment of his comrades along with his manipulation tact gave him the title of an edge lord. It wasn’t too long before Redditors clapped back at this criticism.

From the Uchiha clan massacre to his brother’s betrayal, Kishimoto’s writing is par excellence. However, it is this very finesse that often gets overlooked amidst the censure.

Kishimoto’s finesse lost in translation amidst the “edgelord” criticism

It is no surprise that Masashi Kishimoto is lauded for his character designs and art style. The mangaka reigns supreme in creating some of the most iconic characters in his series. This applies to both heroes and villains along with the side characters.

Barring the hate, his characterization of the Uchiha is rather gut-wrenching considering his backstory. FromKonoha’s involvementin the massacre to Hokage’s negligence, the series outlined his villainy early on.

His actions toward Karin and Team 7 deserve its just criticism. This, however, doesn’t negate the years of brutality he had to live with. Witnessing a massacre along withItachi’s betrayalstripped him of his childhood. Additionally, Itachi’s role was what took away his sanity in the end.

It isn’t a single arc that triggered his villainy, but the years of brutality the character was subjected to. This, however, doesn’t negate his actions toward his comrades. In the larger scheme, Kishimoto excelled in creating a well-written and layered character.

Narutois available for streaming on Crunchyroll. The manga is available for reading on Viz Media.
