A viral video ofMinecraftkitted out with a handful of realism mods and graphical enhancements is dividing the community. After garnering over 5.8 million views on X (formerly Twitter) over the weekend, Minecraft players can’t decide if these mods are the next big thing, or if it takes away the “soul” of Mojang Studios' popular sandbox game.
In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past thirteen years, Minecraft is a sandbox game that allows players to unlock their creativity and build anything they want. Over the years Minecraft has received a plethora of new content updates, adding new mobs, generated structures, dungeons, features, and even an end-game section known as “The End.”

As Minecraft continued to grow in popularity following its release in 2011, so did the game’s modding community. If you can think of it, there’s probably a mod for it. One of the most popular pieces of community-made content for Minecraft is resource packs, with some of the most downloaded packs making the game appear more “realistic,” often with ray-tracing and more detailed textures.

But one player appears to have taken things to the next level and combined multiple realism mods with a resource pack to create a version of Minecraft that is almost unrecognizable. Over on the YouTube account ofPonteiiro, a new video shows off what Minecraft looks like with all of these mods installed.
The YouTuber also posted a short clip to X, receiving millions of views and dividing the community in the process.

Some usersjoked that this is what Minecraft would look like “it it was owned by Epic Games,” whilstotherssaid that it is “sad” that a community mod can outperform the actual game in terms of graphics.
Not everybody is a fan of these mods though, as they believe it takes away the “soul” and creativity of Minecraft.
