There’s the quest bounty that will see you track down Heismay, and the optional bounty that will see you track down The New King of the Imps.
This bounty inMetaphor: ReFantaziosees you head out to the forest to track down a Goborn Chief that can easily catch you off guard and take you down if you aren’t careful, but with some preparation and battle acumen, you’ll walk away with some decent spoils.
How To Begin The Bounty
To begin this bounty, you’ll need to visit a military kiosk that allows you to track bounties. These all offer the same bounties, so there’s no need to go to region-specific kiosks to get specific bounties.
To pick this one up you can either teleport back to the Grand Cathedral and visit the Recruitment Center, or, as it’s likely more convenient,you can head to the military kiosk located in Martina in Thoroughfare Square.
After you take on this bounty, you will gain access to the Imp’s Den on your world map, and the travel time to reach this area will be one day.
How To Track Down The Goborn King
Once at the Imp’s Den,you’ll have to draw the Goborn King out of hiding, and the only way to do this isby beating a certain amount of Black-Robed Goborns.
Standard Goborn enemies often accompany these enemies, but it is best to take the Black-Robed Goborns out first, as these enemies can cast dangerous magic attacks that can prolong fights.
They have no particular weakness, but physical attacks tend to work a treat, souse Archetypes like the Knight and Warriorto make short work of them.
Plus, you can largely deal with these encounters by catching them off guard, using physical attacks, and relying on their stunned status to give you another free turn to finish the group off.
You will also encounter Vesps in this area which areweak to piercing attacks, as well as wind attacks. However, these can be avoided if you wish, as killing these enemies will not force the Goborn King out of hiding.
Once you defeat all the Black-Robed Goborns in the forest, the Goborn King will show up with three little minions, beginning the fight proper.
How To Defeat The Goborn King
The fight with the Goborn King might seem tough, but if you took the advice of the Informed Man back in Martina and stocked up on some itemsthat can apply a drowsy effect on your foe, you’ll have a pretty easy time taking this boss down. After all, successin a tactical JRPGis all about preparation.
The difficulty of this fight comes from the fact that the Goborn King can rally his troops. They can useMatarukaja to up the attack power of their minions, and also hit pretty hard themselves.
Plus, even when you take out their minions,they can use Unwavering Blade, which makes them devilishly evasive and increases their hit rate, ensuring a lot of your attacks are missed and prolonging the fight.
However, taking out the lesser enemies becomes a breeze if you use Slumberthorn to apply a sleep effect on the Goborn King. As does taking them out later on, as they can’t be evasive if they’re taking a nap, now can they?
This is the ideal tactic, but outside of this, I would urge players to make use of the Knight Archetype’s Knight’s proclamation ability to draw attacks, as this class is resistant to physical attacks.
Plus, when taking out the lesser enemies, I would suggest taking out the Black-Robed Goborn, as you have been doing leading up to this fight. Oh, and as you’ll likely already know,don’t use a Healer class, as the Goborns get all worked up and harder to kill when they see a Staff.
If you can avoid them setting up their team, or casting their evasive spells, you’ll breeze through this fight, and then all that’s left to do is head back to base and claim your spoils.
Rewards For Defeating The Goborn King
If you manage to defeat the Goborn King and complete The New King of the Imps, you’ll receive the following rewards for your efforts:
While completing this request doesn’t yield any cool items, the real reason you want to do itis to gain access to the new request back on Sunlumeo Street, where you can speak to a Noble and take on ‘A Haunted Heirloom.’
But as those who have seen the price of fancy Igniters will know, the additional cash is also a pretty nice bonus.
