ThoughMetaphor: ReFantaziois often compared toPersona, its turn-based combat follows theShin Megami Tenseistyle known as Press Turn.

Naturally, this combat style is already more strategic than many other turn-based RPGs. Still, here inMetaphor: ReFantazio, it’s heightened by each character’s numerous build options, fromArchetypesand inherited skills to the equipment and level up.

All followers have issues, but some resonate more intimately with us.

The RPG features countless accessories that alter combat dynamics, whether by reducing the Synthesis Turn Icon cost to one or restoring MP every turn—especially handy for managing one of the biggest struggles in long dungeons like theDragon Temple.

Metaphor: ReFantazio Venomward Charm

This list highlights the seven best accessories inMetaphor: ReFantaziothat we practically kept equipped on our party at all times and helped us win against the game’s hardest secret bosses, including one infamous dragon hidden inside a crimson-colored book.

7Venomward Charm

Vaccination Certificate

Prevents Poison, Malady, Paralysis, Hex, Burn, and Frostbite, and all stats +3.

Where to find

Metaphor: ReFantazio Full Moon Medal

After delivering 12 Gold Beetles to the Elderly Entomophile.

The Venomward Charm will likely be the first accessory on this list you’ll obtain—if you’re collectingall the Gold Beetles inMetaphor: ReFantazio. Its effect is simple but valuable, preventing any physical status ailments and providing an all-stats bonus.

Generally, most monsters won’t inflict status effects on your party, but a few bosses have area effects that can. Placing this accessory on a tank or healer could make all the difference in these battles and let you live longer to fight another turn.

Metaphor: ReFantazio Radiant Crystal

6Full Moon Medal

The Best Lunar Phase

Large MP recovery every turn in battle.

Reward for winning Varmareno Coliseum’s Silver Battle Rank I.

Many of the accessories on this list can be earned by completing theVarmareno Coliseum, so we recommend getting into gladiator mode as soon as possible. The Full Moon Medal is one such accessory whose effect speaks for itself.

Managing MP inMetaphor: ReFantaziois challenging, as abilities and Synthesis start to cost increasingly more MP just when you think you’ve mastered it. An accessory that restores MP every turn is invaluable for avoiding the headache of constantly optimizing its costs or saving items for critical moments.

Also worth it if you’re tired of relying on the Mage Archetype field skill.

And, since it’s an accessory, nothing stops you from swapping it among party members. Enter an easy battle, have everyone guard until the one wearing the Full Moon Medal has fully restored MP, and repeat as needed.

5Radiant Crystal

Shining Bright Like A Diamond

All stats +8.

After defeating the Elegy of the Soul.

There are many powerful accessories, but not enough for all seven party members. So why not increase all stats by eight points with the Radiant Crystal? It’s a no-frills but highly advantageous item.

In other words, Radiant Crystal essentially gives your character the equivalent of 20 additional levels since each character gains two points per level, making this accessory worth a total of 40 points.

Best Games Like Metaphor ReFantazio

From Persona 5 Royal to Fire Emblem Three Houses, these titles are great picks for Metaphor ReFantazio fans.

While other accessories like the Narcissus Brooch are better suited for specialized builds, the Radiant Crystal is an excellent general-purpose choice. The only caveat is that you must finish the Dragon Trials to get it, but no fret, I believe in you.

4Utilitarian Manual

The Quality Or State Of Being Useful

Reduces the Turn Icon cost of Synthesis.

Bought at any Magic Shop (needAlonzo Rank 7ability)

Synthesis skills are among the most powerful inMetaphor: ReFantazio, whether offensive or supportive. Because of their strength, it’s no surprise that using a Synthesis consumes two Turn Icons—unless you’re equipped with the Utilitarian Manual.

This accessory reduces Synthesis skills to just one Turn Icon. If you’re building a damage-focused Archetype, other accessories may be better, but this is one of the best for support builds.

Placing the Utilitarian Manual on a Healer Lineage allows you to cast Godly Blessing, a spell that revives all allies from KO with full HP, for only one Turn Icon—a lifesaver in dire situations. Or use it to spam Masquerade Charge from thePersona Master, a buff that increases the party’s physical attack damage once per battle.

The damage bonus is immense, especially when paired with other accessories like the Overlord’s Sash, allowing some Archetypes to hit staggering damage numbers.

3Hero King’s Ring

A True King Accessory

Nullifies damage from all affinities except Almighty.

After defeating the Redscale Apocalypse Dragon.

The Hero King’s Ring is the kind of accessory that’s insanely powerful yet appears a bit too tardy—a classic JRPG move. This is because it’s acquired after defeating the Redscale Apocalypse Dragon, the hardest secret boss inMetaphor: ReFantazio. For this reason alone, we didn’t place it as the game’s best accessory.

But at the same time, it would be remiss not to include it here. Nullifying all damage types is, well, an incredibly broken effect. Making a character virtually invincible is the most overpowered effect in any game.

And if by any chance you encounter an enemy with Almighty attacks, it won’t be an issue for the slayer of the godlike Apocalypse Dragon.

2Gambler’s Manual

Stop When You’re Winning

Doubles critical hit damage.

Reward for winning Varmareno Coliseum’s Gold Battle Rank I.

Metaphor: ReFantazioemphasizes critical hits and dodges in a way few turn-based RPGs do. Each critical hit deals massive damage and grants an extra turn, while dodging makes the attacker lose turns.

Needless to say, an Archetype build focused on critical hits will take immense advantage by equipping the Gambler’s Manual and watching your characters smash enemies to smithereens.

The accessory is even better if you equip the Tycoon’s Critical Tradepassive skill, which doubles the chance of landing a critical hit. Luck determines the critical hit rate, so an Archetype with high Luck is essential to building a high-crit, high-damage character.

1Overlord’s Sash

An Overlord Is Mightier Than A King

Sharply increases the power and MP cost of Synthesis skills that use MP.

Choosing an epic-quality accessory as the best may seem odd, but the Overlord’s Sash is amazingly powerful. We’re not exactly sure what the power increase is, though believe us when we say that some Synthesis skills become lethal, especially when paired with the correct passive abilities.

After obtaining the Overlord’s Sash, we equipped it on the protagonist with the Prince Archetype, then we added the Tycoon Archetype’s passives to boost critical hit rates and Almighty damage by 20%, plus other damage boosts. If the MP cost becomes too demanding, consider inheriting Magic Link from the Elemental Master to halve MP costs.

In boss battles, we stuck to the same strategy. We apply all possible damage buffs to the protagonist, cast Masquerade Charge, and use debuffs to lower the enemy’s defense if there are enough Turn Icons. Finally, we unleash Royal Sword Synthesis from the Prince Archetype. If the ability lands a critical hit, few bosses will stay standing. If not, repeat until any enemy is down.
