Glohm Sharpcask is thesecond of three optional rematcheswith bosses from earlier inBrothership. Taking this mechanical monstrosity down a second time rewards you with some new gear.

Oh, and the knowledge that Concordia is a bit safer from these Glohm-empowered menaces! That’s probably a bit more important, right?
Super Mario RPG: Secret Boss Location
Super Mario RPG has a secret boss that you can fight named Culex. Here’s where you can find him.
Starting the Sidequest
For Glohm Sharpcask to spawn, you’ll need to trigger the rematch sidequest.Just like the previous battle, hit up Dewey Fightem on Shipshape Islandto learn about the terrible monster lurking in the Color-Full Sea’s Great Lighthouse.
Depending on your progress in the main story, Dewey might be ready to send you off to battle Glohm Sharpcask straightaway! To unlock this sidequest, you’ll need tofirst complete Wayaway Islandin the main story (and of course, beat Glohm Gobblick).

Don’t worry if you finished Wayaway Island ages ago—Dewey’s rematch sidequestsdon’t have a time limit. However, the sooner you beat Glohm Sharpcask, the sooner you’ll get access to the sidequest’s reward: a late-game hammer upgrade.
Description

Hammer +123, Def +6
Reaching Glohm Sharpcask
Your throwdown with Glohm Sharpcask takes place in the same location as your first fight:down in the basement of the Great Lighthouse in the Color-Full Sea.
Sail back over and feel free to hit up any other sidequests along the way. Even if you press X to sail faster, the trip from the Gulchrock Sea back to the Color-Full Sea can take a hot minute.

Once you’re on the Great Lighthouse’s island, snag the Green Pipe near the island’s merchant towarp down into Sub-Level 2.Then, justhead northto the Save Block and the door into the boss room.
Mario & Luigi: Brothership Review
Sail the seas of Concordia with Mario, Luigi, and friends old and new in Mario & Luigi: Brothership! A charming if somewhat familiar adventure.
Preparing For The Fight
Brothershiprecommends hitting at least level 39 before tackling Glohm Sharpcask, and with good reason. With the power of Glohm, Sharpcask’s attack patterns are quicker, and he hitswayharder than the last time you saw him.
Tackling this battle the moment Dewey offers you the sidequest? verify to hit that Save Block before entering the boss room!

As usual, be sure to have agood stockpile of recovery items—especially Syrups and Nuts—before triggering the boss fight. When in doubt, it’s almost always possible to play defensively and whittle away at Glohm Sharpcask’s health.
Battle Plugs
Unlike your battle with Glohm Gobblick, twoexcellentBattle Plugs are guaranteed to be available for this fight!
TheAuto Ampberry you got on Wayaway Islandis a great defensive plug for preventing the Glohm status effect. Since Glohm prevents you from using Bros. Attacks and Luigi Logic, it’s important to get rid of this right away.

The Battle Plug’s activation doesn’t take up your turn, making it nice and efficient. Combine Auto Ampberry with Boomerang Items to preserve your stockpile of Ampberries, since they can’t be purchased at any of the shops.
If you continue the main story further, you’ll eventually get aGlohm Guardplug which prevents Glohm entirely! It has 5 charges, and requires 20 turns to recharge.
For offense, theAnti-Glohm Specialistplug you earned for beating Glohm Gobblick turns every regular attack into a critical hit. TheAnti-Spike Specialistplug is also great against Glohm Sharpcask due to, well, all the sharp pointy bits.
Battling Glohm Sharpcask
Your rematch with Glohm Sharpcask follows the same basic rhythm as your first fight with this boss:beat him senseless until Glohm Sharpcask retreats into his shell to heal, then use Luigi Logic to stun him and deal massive damage.
That’s not to say there are no differences! With the power of Glohm, this boss can put up a nasty spiked shield that prevents all damage from a single attack. You’ll need to strike the shield several times in order to keep damaging the boss.
Bros. Attacks like Mario’sBomb Derbyare great at popping Glohm Sharpcask’s shield. These Bros. Attacks hit the target multiple times and then continue, allowing you to get rid of the shield and also chip away at the boss’s hit points.
In my opinion,Luigi’s Green Shell is the best Bros. Attack for popping Glohm Sharpcask’s shield.Green Shell only costs 5 BP, is easy to execute, and inflicts six hits. This guarantees it will always break Glohm Sharpcask’s shield while conserving your BP for boosted attacks after activating Luigi Logic.
Luigi Logic
After pounding away at Glohm Sharpcask for a bit, he’ll retreat into his shell. While inside, the boss will recover about 200 HP per turn, and his Def is boosted.
Fortunately, thisalso allows you to activate Luigi Logic, provided both brothers are alive and neither is Glohmed. On Luigi’s turn, hit the green block to activate the minigame.
In addition to crates, during the minigame bombs also fall from the ceiling. If these hit the crates stacked atop Glohm Sharpcask, your stack is destroyed and the minigame will end.
Stack six crates atop Glohm Sharpcask, and his shell will crack, giving you an opportunity to pound him with your strongest Bros. Attacks for critical damage. Now’s a great time to bust out theBros. Boostplug (and Auto EXCELLENT, if you need it) to chunk away the boss’s health.
Whether a bomb blows up your stack or the crates fall over, failing the Luigi Logic minigame still ends Glohm Sharpcask’s regeneration. For that reason it’s always worth activating Luigi Logic, even if you’re struggling with the minigame.
You’ll probably need to play through the stun cycle twice, although this depends on your level and gear. If Glohm Sharpcask’s HP gets real low, and he survives, the boss will enrage, turning red and dealing additional damage until you defeat him.
After breaking Glohm Sharpcask back down into spare parts, he’ll drop aPlatinum Medallion(worth 5,000 Coins!) as a nice little bonus. Head on back to Shipshape Island to collect your new hammer from Dewey! Two bonus bosses down, one to go…
