We were promised last week that today we’d be getting a whole lot more details about the upcomingMafia Trilogy, and 2K Games has now followed through on such.
Detailed in a newpress release, 2K today has broken down how the specifics of theMafia Trilogy, which won’t all be arriving at the same time. As of today, and asprevious leaksseemed to indicate, the remastered iteration ofMafia IIis available for purchase today on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The game will cost $30 on its own, but is also included in the largerMafia Trilogycollection which retails for $60. Additionally, if you already own the original game on Steam, you’ll be able to upgrade to thisDefinitive Editionfor free.
As forMafia III: Definitive Edition, the game has already been readily available on modern platforms for years at this point but the newest bundle now includes all post-launch DLC for the game as well at a price point of $30. Fortunately, everyone who has previously ownedMafia IIIwill be able to upgrade to theDefinitive Editionfor free and can now download all of the title’s add-on content free of charge on all platforms.
And when it comes to the centerpiece of this new collection, the newly-realized remake of the originalMafia, we’ll have to wait a bit longer to get our hands on it. As we originally expected,Mafiawon’t be coming to modern platforms until later this summer on August 20, 2025. While the wait is surely a bit annoying for some, the game has been completely revamped with “an updated script filled with rich new dialogue, expanded backstories, and additional cutscenes; all-new gameplay sequences and features; the same stellar game engine that poweredMafia III’sbest-in-class cinematics; and other enhancements.”
“The originalMafiamade such a lasting impact on how video games can tell serious stories, and we know how much the series' fans still revere it,” said Hangar 13 president and CCO Haden Blackman on the new iteration of the game. “Nearly 20 years after theMafiaseries started, we now have an amazing opportunity to introduce this beloved game to a new generation of players and give longtime fans a chance to relive Tommy’s story with a stellar modern presentation, as well as new story elements and gameplay features.”
