The system that the game has to upgrade your Abilities is different than most other RPGs as well, as the gamedoes away with the standard XP system. Instead of earning XP through activities that go towards unlocking points of some kind that are then spent on unlocking different abilities, the game does it a little differently.

Upgrade Abilities By Reading Books
In order to unlock and upgrade any Abilities in the game, you will have topurchase various books. Each book that you purchase can then be “read” to unlock that upgrade. You can order these books from the Daidoji faction catalog, and they will be sent to you.
Ability Upgrade Types
These will come to you in a variety of different forms: books, graphic novels, manga, academic tomes, and more. They will vary in pricing depending on what they do, but each one will help youupgrade your Kiryuto be as powerful as he possibly can be.
Naturally, in order to purchase the books, you will need money, orin the case of the game, yen. Yen can be earned by completing a variety of different activities and missions. The best way to earn yen is totake part in the Hell Rumble at the game’s Coliseum. This event will net you a lot of money as you do better and better each time.

However, you will eventually start to find books that you canonly order with Akame Pointsin addition to yen. Akame Points are a specific kind of currency that you can only earn by engaging with the Akame Network. This meanspicking up various requestsand missions from Akame and completing them. As you do, you will unlock more Akame Points, as well as yen.
Justbe ready to spend a lot of money, as unlocking every single Ability upgrade will cost you a small fortune. Luckily, earning money — and later Akame Points — isn’t too difficult in the game. As you progress further and further into it, you will likely end up with a small fortune of your own that you can use to purchase each book.
