There are three different ways you can grow the strength of your character inLies of P. You canincrease your levelby spending Ergo with Sophia, you canupgrade your weaponsusing different materials with Eugenie, or you canupgrade your P-Organusing Quartz.

However, Quartz is an elusive material that’s quite hard to find in the treacherous streets of Krat. Though you do get some in the main storyline, much of it is hidden behind closed doors.

What Is Quartz?
Quartz is the material required to upgrade your P-Organ and gain new abilities. Think of it as perk points to advance your skill tree. You can unlock your P-Organ after you finish the Krat City Hall section of the game andkill the Scrapped Watchman.
Once you’re finished, you can gotalk to Gepettoin Hotel Krat and trigger a cutscene that will unlock the ability to choose which P-Organ you want to strengthen using the Quartz.
Quartz Locations
Quartz is spread across the map of Krat and can be obtained through different avenues, oftentimes without the player even realizing they got it. There are three main ways to obtain Quartz in Lies of P: Main Bosses, Optional Bosses, and Hidden Locations.
Main Bosses
The main campaign of lies of P hasa lot of different bossesfor you to defeat and vanquish. These range from hulking puppets to enraged humans, each of them being a force to be reckoned with.
Typically, you will get at least one Quartz from each one of these bosses. Since you need to defeat them to progress the story anyway, there’s no need to go out of your way to go after them for any particular material, even a precious one like Quartz.
Humanoid bosses typically only drop costumes. This includesthe Mad Donkey Bosson Elysion Boulevard and the optionalMad Survivor Bossin the Krat Puppet Factory. Furthermore,monster-type bosseswon’t give you Quartz either. Only puppet bosses drop Quartz when you defeat them.

Do you want to be big and bulky or small and nimble? Both. Both is good.
Optional Bosses
There aresome bosses you don’t have to fightin the game to progress the story, but they are there if you want to challenge yourself and get a reward while you’re at it. Not all of them will drop Quartz, some will only reward you with rare materials and costumes.
One example is thePuppet of the Future, an optional boss in the Krat Puppet Factory section of the game. Once killed, it will reward you with a Radiant Ergo and a Quartz. You won’t get a special Ergo from any of the optional bosses; only main story bosses will give you those.
Hidden Locations
The city of Krat is full of hidden locations and locked rooms where you can find all kinds of goodies if you know how to reach them. Since Quartz is the most valuable material in Lies of P, there are definitely a few pieces of it lying around for you to look for if you look around carefully enough.
The House On Elysion Boulevard
You can find a piece of Quartz inside 221B, the apartment just outside the second Stargazer in the house on Elysion Boulevard. You’ll have tocomplete a mini-questto get the key to the house and get a crack at the treasures within.
Malum District
Travel to the Malum District Stargazer. From here, follow the route forward until you reach the Miniboss area where there are two decay-slinging monsters on the rooftops. Clear the area and go into the house in the middle. There, you’ll find yourself a Quartz.
Malum District Town Hall
It can be easy to just move forward and miss the Quartz right under your nose. After you defeat the Rabbit Brotherhood’s Eldest for the first time, you may go inside their hideout. Behind the counter, you’ll find a container that has some Quartz inside.
Rosa Isabelle Street Culvert
Travel to the Rosa Isabelle Street Culver and take a left, going into the sewers. From there, instead of taking a right turn and going towards the Opera House, keep going forward and drop. Here, you will have to find a couple of enemies and defeat one Miniboss after a little bit of travel. Afterward, you’ll be rewarded when you see a shining box with Quartz inside.
Barren Swamp
Next to the Barren Swamp Stargazer, you’ll find a broken puppet who’s awakened his sense of self. He will talk to you about different things and call you his only friend. If you have the relevant gestures unlocked, you can show him different emotions for various prizes.
After you’ve shown him all four emotions — Anger, Sadness, Happiness, and Clap Gestures — he will give you a Quartz as well. Return after a while to receive another Quartz.
Hermit’s Cave
After you solve get the Rusty Cryptic Vessel and decipher it, the Hermit Cave where Hugo was present next to the Barren Swamp Bridge Stargazer will open up. Explore the area and travel till the end after defeating the Minibosses to get yourself a well-deserved Quartz.
