Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga released back in April, and since then, it’s been steady as one of the best-selling games of the year, up there with the monumental success that wasElden Ring. The game is, in a way, a remake of prior Lego Star Wars games, for it has you play through stages based on the first six mainline Star Wars movies, which had already been portrayed in the first two games of the series.
The stages are completely redone here, however, having completely different layouts, sequences, puzzles, and combat scenarios, all to better match the game’s new over-the-shoulder third-person camera perspective. Really, the only similarity to the old levels is simply that they’re based on the same movies.
The game also adds levels from the three latest mainline Star Wars movies, two of which had never been featured in a Lego Star Wars game before. On top of the traditional linear gameplay that follows the stories of the movies, it has 23 iconic planets that get unlocked as you progress through the game. you may explore these for easter eggs and collectibles at your own pace, independent from the main story.
As per the last report of theNPD group, which logged data as far as October 2022, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga sits at the third spot for best-selling games of the year, specifically in the US market. It’s behind the previously mentioned Elden Ring, and the recently releasedCall of Duty: Modern Warfare II. This puts into context just how valuable the title is for Game Pass to obtain. It may have been difficult for Xbox to achieve this, since, usually, best-selling games are more prone to stay away from subscription services.
