A major factor inLeague of Legends' continued success over fifteen years after its original launch lies in Riot Games' spinoff games that tie back to their golden goose. Fans of the franchise will recognize or may have even tried out the mobile version of LoL known as Wild Rift or the Hearthstone-inspired card game Legends of Runeterra. Now Riot Games is bringing its newest Noxian-inspired minigame to the official League of Legends client,The Demons Hand.
The Demon’s Hand: League of Legends' Newest Card Game
The Demons Hand, the latest Riot Games minigame, is a rogue-like card game based on defeating high HP level beasts and bosses with an assortment of cards that players will use to deal the most damage as possible. It seems like Riot Games has seen therecent success of Balatro, as this game mechanics-wise pulls a ton from that title and games of the past like Inscryption.
While we only have a short trailer for the game to operate with, there are a couple of shots of the card decks showing off staple Noxus-themed citizens and beasts used in the game, whose subclasses are also shown on the cards with unique insignias.

Think about those in the same vein as different types of Pokemon. Past just the cards themselves, players will haveaccess to unique “sigils” that will power up certain cardsin their hand to create bigger damage combos. The sigils feel like an almost direct tie to power-ups seen in Balatro through the Joker cards system.
The game will feature an interactive map for players to interact with, jumping from each battle and checkpoint along their path. Players can heal up at rest points, and also spend the gold they earn from defeating enemies to restock/buy new sigils and cards for a more powerful deck as the opponents get increasingly more difficult.

As of now it looks like a majority of the enemies players will face seem to be either angry or demonic versions of staple Noxian wildlife. The trailer shows what seems to be an evil buffalo, fox, and flock of ravens as some of the many enemies players will have to face.
What is Riot Games Not Telling Us About The Demon’s Hand?
It seems from the trailer that Riot Games is hiding something potentially sinister within The Demon’s Hand card game. For starters, a mysterious man covered in red markings and sporting multiple heavy bandages all over his body sits across from you as you play the minigame.
Even his face is almost completely covered in these bandages, with only one tired, grey-colored eye sticking out. There is no mention of who this man is and what his purpose may be during the trailer. For all we know, he could be the “demon” players are entangled with as the game progresses.

The real weird part of the trailer though comes at the end. The voice that’s explained the premise of the game to us ends the video by stating The Demon’s Hand is just “a lighthearted game of cards, certainly there’s nothing more to it than that, right?” before zooming in just a bit more on the shadowy bandage man.
Some early speculation from LoL fans seems to point to The Demon’s Hand tying into therecently announced LeBlanc updatecoming, but make no mistake when playing,The Demon’s Hand is hiding a secret that I think Riot wants players to discover for themselves.
