Although the acting projects he has been taking on as of late aren’t quite gaining the attention he may be seeking, Cavill himself hasn’t once stopped making rounds on the internet for his beauty nonetheless. That said, one of the things most-talked-about things about him is his stunning eyes.

While his gorgeously stunning blue eyes are enough to leave everyone mesmerized by him, what’s astonishing about them is that they aren’t a single color. Rather, the 41-year-old actor has a tinge of a different color in one of the irises of his eyes, making them stand out from other blue eyes.

This is due to a condition called heterochromia. And while itisrare, this eye condition isn’t allthatrare, considering how quite a few other Hollywood celebrities also have a similar condition. That said, here’s all the basic information you need to know about this eye condition. Dig in!

So, What is Heterochromia?

Interestingly enough, heterochromia is the condition when a person’s eyes have a complete or partial difference in color between them, resulting in mismatched eyes. To explain it in layman’s terms, it is the condition “when a person’s irises are different colors.”

According to theAmerican Academy of Ophthalmology, a person could be born with this condition or it may develop soon after birth — a harmless case of genetic mutation influencing the way pigment forms in the irises —which is a case of congenital heterochromia.

Meanwhile, if the person happens to get this eye condition later in life, the situation changes to acquired heterochromia. The causes behind this could be many, such as a disease later in life or an injury that could lead to this type of pigmentation forming in the irises.

But, of course, there’s mostly nothing to worry about except that it adds a distinctive touch to a person’s eyes. PerForgues Eyecare & Associates, only three of every five hundred people are affected by this eye condition, and a majority of those cases have no concerning disease or underlying condition causing this eye color variation.

Henry Cavill Has Segmental Heterochromia

There are several different types of this particular eye condition, andHenry Cavill, for one, seems to have segmental heterochromia. In this condition, a patch of a different color forms in one iris, resulting in a slight tinge forming in one of the irises, differentiating the two.

As can be noticed in his stunning eyes,The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfarestar’s right eye sports a brilliantly blue iris. Meanwhile, his left eye holds a slightly different look due to the patch of brown that clouds the upper part of his left iris. This is a condition of partial heterochromia.

Other types ofthis conditioninclude complete heterochromia, which is when one iris is a completely different color than the other, resulting in completely mismatched irises. Then there’s central heterochromia, which has a ring of a different color surrounding the pupils.

Other Hollywood Celebrities Who Have Heterochromia

While Cavill is one, he isn’t the onlyactor in Hollywood who deals with thisrare eye condition. As it turns out, there are multiple other actors and actresses in the entertainment industry who sport similar looks, with some having congenital cases and others having acquired ones.

All in all, here’s a list of some of the other celebrities besides theMan of Steelstar who hold this difference in color in their respective eyes:
