Kingdom Hearts III’slaunch last week wasn’t just one of the biggest for the month of January, but was likely one of the biggest releases of the entire year. As such, it should then come as no surprise that the long-awaited third installment in the numbered series from Square Enix found its way to the top of the UK sales chart last week.
Kingdom Hearts IIItook home the top position for the fifth week of the year and in the process surpassed Capcom’sResident Evil 2. According toGamesIndustry.biz,Kingdom Hearts IIInearly doubled sales compared to that ofKingdom Hearts IIwhen it first released. Additionally, 82% of the game’s sales were for PS4, which isn’t a surprise in the slightest considering the series has largely been PlayStation-centric over the years. All in all, it was a very good debut for Sora and friends.
As mentioned, Capcom andResident Evil 2dropped into the second spot this week with the ever-lingeringRed Dead Redemption 2sitting at number three. The rest of the top five includedFIFA 19andCall of Duty: Black Ops 4, which finished in third and fourth respectively. Other thanKH3andRE2, the rest of the top 5 is the same as it normally is.
