This guide is a complete walkthrough for the So It Begins quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, as it will detail how to complete objectives, the best way to prepare for the fight ahead, and more.

Surviving the Suchdol Ambush

The start of the So It Begins quest shows Prague at our doorsteps, where it’s up to Henry and his allies to defend the fortress.

Before running up to the top of the gate to defend it,grab aVoulge(halberd) next to the staircase. You’ll need this in a minute.

Next, run to the top of the walls, grab the heavy crossbow from the bin, and begin shooting at the invaders approaching the walls.

Fortune favors the bold, but she’s apathetic to your fingers.

Once the enemy gets too close to the main gate, run over to the pile of stones (next to where you got the heavy crossbow) and drop the stones on the soldier’s head. This is similar to the objective during theFor Victory! quest.

Recruiting your team in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

After killing all the enemies at the gate, the next wave will begin climbing ladders to reach the inside.Use the Voulge you got earlier to knock the ladders downbefore they get inside. Once you knock down five ladders, the enemy will retreat.

Preparing and Recruiting the Team

The next main objective is toprepare for a siegewith Godwin. There are a handful of people you should visit here to ensure you’re well-prepared. Check them out below.

Each of these characters is marked with a red waypoint, making them easy to find. I highly recommend forging a new and stronger weapon at the forge where Frenzl is if you have a weapon that’s about to break or has low stats.

Next, speak to Zizka and Godwin at the top of the gates. Zizka will give Henry orders to recruit a group of soldiers, which include Dobrosh, Knocker Wolfram, Samuel, Kubyenka, and “old friends.”

Defending the night in Suchdol Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

Speak to all of these men by heading to the red waypoint markers and tell them it’s time to assemble.

After speaking to each one, meet them in the courtyard area and inform them that everyone will be taking the night watch. Next, it’s time to get some sleep in your bed and prepare for nightfall.

Defending the Night Watch at Suchdol

When night comes, you’ll be awakened by a drunken Dry Devil who demands you to check on your soldiers keeping watch.

Make your way to each waypoint, representing the locations of your soldiers, and speak to them. If any of them are asleep, give them a light swipe of your sword to wake them up.

After checking on all your soldiers, the fortress will get ambushed.Use your Voulge to knock down any ladders that appearto prevent enemy soldiers from getting in, but if they make it inside, kill them as fast as possible.

Luckily, you have all your allies there to help you, soattacking the enemy from behind when they’re distractedis a great way to kill them quickly.

Afterknocking down the two ladders, meet Zizka and the others in the courtyard to discuss the next steps. Lastly, all you need to do is speak to Zizka and discuss what transpired during the night watch.

This will lead to a final cutscene for the So It Begins quest inKingdom Come Deliverance 2, leading into the next main quest “Besieged.”
