Yesterday, we learned that Avalanche Studios and Square Enix’sJust Cause 4had gone goldover a month before launch. That means the game has hit the “gold standard” for release and the printing of physical copies. Now that the base game is locked in, Square Enix has turned to hyping up the game’s expansion pass, titledJust Cause 4: Demons, Dare Devils, and Danger.
All three parts of the alliterative expansion pass title are representative of the three waves of DLC coming; in fact, this is not too dissimilar to what Avalanche Studios and Square Enix did withJust Cause 3’s DLC.Because the game is releasing late this year, all of the expansion pass content is slated to release throughout 2019. That being said, those who pick upJust Cause 4: Gold Editionwill gain access to all three DLC packs within the expansion pass seven days early.
Pack 1: Dare Devilslaunches in early 2019 and has an emphasis on destructive racing. That DLC will have Rico participating in various death races and “rampage rallies” in the underground of Solis, the fictional country thatJust Cause 4takes place in, so those who like the driving anddestructive natureof theJust Causeseries will likely be pleased by this.
Later on in 2019, we can expectPack 2:Demonsto release. This pack is also referred to asLos Demoniosand is a more story-focused expansion that sees Rico taking on a demonic force infecting Solis. That’s definitely much more supernatural-focused than whatJust Causefans like myself have to expect, so I’m curious to see how well it meshes with the rest of the game.
After that,Pack 3: Dangerwill hit PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Also known asAgency Strikes Back, this DLC has Rico face new enemies and find new weapons and technology as he fights The Agency, aCIA parody agencythat Rico worked for during the events ofJust CauseandJust Cause 2.
While some people are dissuaded when companiesadvertise DLC before the launch of a game,I infer it as confidence in the product and a guarantee of support.Just Cause 4has already gone gold as well and none of this content is coming until next year, so I highly doubt any of this is finished content being left out at release to sell as DLC. Those of you looking forward toJust Cause 4can check out DualShockers' previews on the game. One is positive, the othernot so much.
