Stories that come full circle at the end are the best; reading something like that is beyond satisfying, as every plotline gets tied up beautifully. With the end ofJujutsu Kaisenapproaching us, the remaining chapters probably fall into single digit. With a Yuta cover for the upcoming volume, Gege Akutami takes us back to where it all started. It feels like the story has reached its point of closure.

The second-strongest in the story, Yuta has given us some of the best moments. There have been times where he made us question the actual protagonist of the series. Out of all the characters, one can argue that Akutami has been the kindest to the young prodigy. So, having Yuta on the volume cover is a reminder of how the creator will always have a special place in his heart for the character.

The Story Begins With Yuta And Ends With Him

The first volume ofJujutsu Kaisen, Volume 0, featured Yuta on its cover, making his backstory the point of inception. As the story progressed, Gojo’s opinion of him put him among the strongest characters in the series. His comeback in the Shibuya Arc was adrenaline-inducing. Since then, he has played a crucial role in the story and differentiates himself from the other characters with his faith in the power of love. Both his powers and personality are top-tier.

He has all the conventional traits of a protagonist. His relationship with Gojo also plays a huge role in his likability, he’s one of the only people who understood the burden of what it means to be ‘Gojo Satoru’. He doesn’t only like Gojo but also looks out for him. BeforeJujutsu Kaisenbegan in 2018, the zero edition was the story’s first installment. It featured Yuta as the protagonist without any signs of Yuji’s existence.

While many characters inJujutsu Kaisenhave succumbed to Akutami’s desperate need to kill off characters, Yuta still stands strong, although in a different body. Even now, in his dire state, fans continue to question whether he’ll die or not. What will happen to him is still up to Gege, but the cover of volume 28 definitely makes one think about how far we’ve come from the beginning.

Yuta’s Big Moment is Yet to Happen

The declaration of love through the volume cover isn’t all; throughout the story,Gege Akutamihas often made fans wonder if Yuta is the real protagonist. The way his character has been written, he has become the symbol of kindness with a ruthless exterior, which allows him to be brutal when needed. The last time we saw Yuta in the manga, was during his duel with Sukuna, since then he has been absent.

It’s fairly safe to assume that Yuta isn’t dead, the collapse of his domain was a result of exhaustion. At this point, we know better than to trust Akutami completely. There’s no certainty that the manga will end with Yuta alive, but with his track record, expecting a big moment isn’t out of line. Yuta might return once again to play his final role which will probably lead us to the end, which seems to be a bleak one at this point.
