In aThreadspost, directorJames Gunnresponded to a fan’s query on the veracity of the rumor currently spreading like wildfire online that he scrappedThe Batman: Part II. His answer? A resounding “No.”
An update fromVarietyclaimed, “The project remains in development and does not yet have a greenlight.” This meant that whileMatt Reeveshas been very busy gearing up for the film, withRobert Pattinsonreturning for the titular role, there has not been any official announcement from Warner Bros regarding the start of its production.
The disappointing report elicited an assumption from fans, as evident in a post fromGiant Freakin Robot, that “The Batman 2 will just be canceled altogether.” But thanks to Gunn’s latest update – the sequel will still make its way to the theaters very soon.

“Matt is working on The Batman – Part II, which he thinks of as a Batman crime saga that also includes the Penguin TV series. The Batman is its own thing. Matt’s hard at work on it. He came in and pitched us some amazing stuff the other day, so our plan is for that to continue.”
