Well, well, well… two veteran directors with different ideologies released their opinions on deleted scenes in the movies and how they affect the final film. Zack Snyder and Denis Villeneuve are two of the greatest directors out there and it seems both contradict each other.

With Snyder’s love for Director Cuts and Extended Cuts and Denis Villeneuve completely disregarding that theory, it seems that both director’s formulas work. But the contradiction between the two directors is somewhat remarkable.
Zack Snyder And Denis Villeneuve Have Different Ideologies!
The world knows (and loves) Zack Snyder for releasing movies and then releasing an extended cut (often known as Director’s Cut) to completely change several storylines of the movie. On the other hand, Denis Villeneuve has also found worldwide fame for directing the iconic 2021 movieDune.

On the other hand, contradicting Snyder’s statements, Villeneuve revealed that he has also deleted several of the scenes from his 2021 movieDune.Well, the director revealed toColliderthat he will not be releasing any of the deleted scenes fromDuneever because there was a reason why he deleted them in the first place!
“Sometimes I remove shots and I say, ‘I cannot believe I’m cutting this out.’ I feel like a samurai opening my gut. It’s painful, so I cannot go back after that and create a Frankenstein and try to reanimate things that I killed. It’s too painful. When it’s dead, it’s dead, and it’s dead for a reason.”

He further continued,
“But yes, it is a painful project, but it is my job. The movie prevails. I’m very, I think, severe in the editing room. I’m not thinking about my ego, I’m thinking about the movie.”

In a different interview,Zack Snyderrevealed the difference between working for the DCEU and working independently. The director revealed that he feels liberated and hence, that could be the reason for extended and director cuts!

Zack Snyder worked for the DCEU for several years and created several good movies over the years. In an exclusive interview withHindustan Times, the director revealed that he found working on new IPs more liberating rather than working with characters such as Batman and Superman.
“To be honest, I love working with Batman and Superman, but they’re very particular. There are a lot of limitations on what you can and cannot do. You can’t do your own thing.”

“But if you’re doing something original, you really have the opportunity to take characters on journeys that might be crazier than what anyone expected. In that way, it’s liberating for me to get to create the world and set the rules.”
Well, although he and Denis Villeneuve have a different set of ideologies, both directors have quite a strong fanbase of people who are ready to defend their movies till death. Director Denis Villeneuve is currently occupied with the upcoming launch ofDune: Part Twowhich is set for a release date of 12 July 2025 in theaters across the U.S.
