Sofia Boutella, the lead actor in Zack Snyder’s 2023 space action adventureRebel Moon, who played Kora, was frustrated with the dismal critical reviews the movie has faced. Netflix has marketed the movie well, and it was one of the most anticipated movies of the year but lacked the charm to be a critical darling.

Boutella, after appearing in part one of the two-part movie series (as confirmed so far), reacted against the critical rampage. While the movie was hyped with the director’s post-Snyzer Verse glimmer of hope, it has remained just an ambitious project from the celebrated director, while several critics dubbed the first part as a menacing space adventure.

Sofia Boutella Was Deeply Hurt AfterRebel Moon’s Brutal Reviews
Sofia Boutellafailed to handle the demolishing reviews ofZack Snyder’sRebel Moon. Of course, the project has always been close to Boutella as she led the film playing Kora with her action and alien gun-blazing thrill. The actorlashed out at the criticsas she spoke withVulturein a recent interview.
“I always thought that I was fully armed to take on those punches, and then I read the critics that came down on Rebel Moon and it really affected me. And I’m just gonna be honest about it. I feel like I’m carrying it for everybody that cared so much about this project, and that’s what affected me. Not the way I look. If anything, I’ve been pretty lucky and people like my work in it, but the movie was criticized.”

It was painful for the actor to witness the harsh criticism as she almost filled her eyes with tears of pain while reading responses. Still, Boutella isproud of the projectand thankful to Snyder for the opportunity to lead the film.

Boutella was wounded by the reviews and went on to defend the movie as another installment is set to land on Netflix. Still, the criticism“really affected me for all of those who put so much heart, tears, and sweat in this project,”Boutella told Vulture.
“It’s hard to see something being demolished to that extent. I’m proud to have been part of it, and if there is no more Rebel Moon, it will be a very important part of my life that I will defend forever.”

Several Snyder Fans also joined the actor in her attempt to defend the essence of the movie ahead of its Netflix cut.

“They’re each about an hour longer than the originals, the PG-13 [versions]. So it’ll be nice to see the six hours together. you’re able to take a break, of course. It’s a more, maybe, immersive experience. I’m interested for people to see it that way. It’s very adult, it’s very R-rated.”
