Treyarch Studios, the development studio behind the upcomingCall of Duty: Black Ops 6, has confirmed that the title’s new Omnimovement system is a “core foundational mechanic” and cannot be simply turned off via the game’s settings like some fans were hoping for.

This year’s newest Call of Duty title, Black Ops 6, is set to reignite the series with a new gameplay mechanic known as ‘Omnimovement’. The feature wasfirst leaked back in Juneby a reliable leaker, before being revealed by Treyarch during a new Xbox Game Showcase the very next day.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 Uses Traditional Score Streak System Over Loops To Prevent Spam

Associate Director of Design at Treyarch Matt Scronce confirms Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will remove the Cold War loop streaks.

With the release of Black Ops 6, fans can also expect the new title to be fully integrated into Call of Duty: Warzone. This means that all of Black Ops 6’s new weapons and operators will be available in the free-to-play Battle Royale title too. But Treyarch has also confirmed that the new Omnimovement system will also be integrated into Warzone too.

“Movement has been a consistent area of focus and innovation for Call of Duty,” Treyarch Studios said during the Black Ops 6 showcase earlier this year. “With Black Ops 6, we’re redefining movement across the entire game. For the first time ever, players can sprint in any direction and move like a true Black Ops action hero.”

Treyarch says the new gameplay mechanic will allow players to “seamlessly chain combat manoeuvres like slide, dive, and the enhanced spine, prone and full 360 degrees range of motion” together. And as the new system will player such an integral part of Black Ops 6’s gameplay, the studio won’t allow you to turn it off if you don’t like it.

During the official Call of Duty podcast, Activision’s Senior Director of Studio Communications said, “Can you toggle Omnimovement on and off? The answer is no, Omnimovement is a core foundational mechanic of the game, you cannot turn it off.”

The news received a mixed response from the community. Some usersbelieve new innovations are good for the franchise, saying, “I hope they keep their foot down with this. Innovation in COD has not been possible because all the fanboys cry about having the ‘old’ stuff back and then cry when things are too different.”

Other usersbelieve players should be given the option to toggle the feature on and off, saying, “Give people the option. If you want it, great. If not, you can toggle it off. I don’t understand why they couldn’t make that a possibility.”
