Deadpool & Wolverineis still one of the most buzzed-about movies this year, especially among Marvel fans. Ever since Ryan Reynolds’ firstDeadpoolfilm, there’s been a ton of speculation about where his character would fit in the MCU, given his totally unique personality that’s unlike anything else in superhero stories.

With the multiverse wide open, this angle was explored in the latest film, but with so many Deadpool variants, a certain detail might have slipped under the radar. His most dangerous version might have shown up without many people noticing. If the variant had acted true to his nature, everything could have gone off the rails, and the story would have taken a very different turn.

Deadpool & WolverineFeatured A Variant FromMarvel Zombies

Even beforeDeadpool & Wolverinehit theaters, there was a ton of buzz about who might show up in the movie. Fans speculated about several characters for a while, but Marvel stayed totally silent. The trailers dropped some hints about who to expect, and even with all the hype, the movie still managed to exceed expectations.

Dogpool and Lady Deadpool were just a couple of the many variants showcased in the film, but there’s been less talk about the hero’s terrifying flying head — a version that’s not as well known. Over time, Wade Wilson has had several iterations, but Headpool stands out as one of the most significant due to his unique abilities.

As@EpicFramepoints out, the comics provide insight into his origins:

This Deadpool head was actually the most dangerous variant that appeared in the movie. It comes from the Marvel Zombies Universe, a world where all the heroes turned into zombies and destroyed everything.

In the movie, Headpool appeared next to Lady Deadpool. He didn’t get a lot of screen time, though he did have a brief close-up. Given that he’s a zombie, if someone had been bitten by him, the wholeDeadpool &Wolverinestoryline could have turned out very differently. Headpool could have potentially doomed the entire world with just one bite.

However, this isn’t his first appearance in the MCU; Headpool made abrief oneinX-Men Origins: Wolverine. While nothing’s been officially confirmed, many fans believe it’s clear. This variant is rumored to be a bit unhinged, thanks to thepost-credits sceneinDeadpool 2, where the hero goes back in time and shoots that Wade Wilson variant in the head.

Who’s Exactly Headpool In The MCU?

Headpool originates fromMarvel Zombies, specifically from Earth-2149, a distinct world within that alternate reality. Initially, he turns into a zombie and eventually flees to Earth-616, after his body is destroyed, leaving only his head intact.

But why is he a floating head inDeadpool & Wolverine? Despite the fan theories about the connection to the hero’s second movie and its relation to the Wolverine film, the detached head actually has a comic book explanation as well.

His entire origin before the zombie plague is unknown, but once it’s believed he’s dead, he’s taken in by S.H.I.E.L.D.’s secret division, A.R.M.O.R. Despite only having his head remaining, he astonishingly continues to live in this form. Still dangerous, he can infect others with his bites. (viaSlashfilm)
