Infinity Wardhas advised players that they shouldn’t attempt the ‘New Zealand trick’ to accessCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2earlier than scheduled in their local region.
For those unaware, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will release at midnight in your local timezone on October 28th, which means certain parts of the world will gain access before others. On occasions like this, users have been known to change their account and console details to New Zealand, as this is the first country in the world to receive Modern Warfare 2 due to timezone differences.
However, Infinity Ward has taken toTwitterto urge players not to do this, “If you are trying to change your console’s region setting to access Modern Warfare 2 early, you will experience connectivity issues and may be locked out of the game until the official launch time of your region”, Infinity Ward said.

Although using the New Zealand trick won’t inherently get your account banned, it’s not advised to do it as Infinity Ward have stated that you could be completely locked out of the game until Modern Warfare 2 launches in your region. This means you also won’t be able to access the single-player campaign whilst locked out.
With only a matter of hours left to go until Modern Warfare 2’s launch, Infinity Ward has revealed that some big changes have been made in the day one update. According to the patch notes released by the team, updates to enemy visibility, UI, weapons, movement, matchmaking, and much more have been included in a recent update. All of the changes were based on fan feedback from the open beta back in September, for full details, check out the link below.
