Halo‘s Pablo Schreiber once played a villain who gave nightmares to Mariska Hargitay’s Olivia Benson inLaw & Order: SVU. Schreiber played the role of William Lewis, a serial r*pist and killer, in the series, who had an expanded arc that lasted for seven episodes. Schreiber’s character remains one of the best-remembered villains of the long-running series, especially after he traumatizedSVU‘s main protagonist Benson.

However, not everyone was a big fan of Schreiber’s William Lewis storyline. Some felt that the storyline was stretched out and they also shared that they hated how the episodes were handled. Interestingly,Halo, in which Schreiber played the lead, was canceled after two seasons at Paramount+.
Pablo Schreiber’s Villain Arc InLaw & Order: SVUReceived Some Hate From Fans
Pablo Schreiber‘s William Lewis is one of the most evil villains featured inLaw & Order: SVU. He went around committing gruesome crimes undetected for years before he encountered Detective Olivia Benson and her team. He then goes on to taunt the SVU and eventually walks free, only to kidnap and torture the series protagonist herself, played byMariska Hargitay.
Schreiber’s arc lasts for several episodes during which he comes as a creepy and violent criminal and commits several r*pes & murders. It is a cathartic moment when Detective Benson bludgeons him repeatedly with a bedpost, however, the villain still comes back to taunt her. When he eventually kills himself, he intentionally plans to implicate Benson in his killing.

In a Reddit post discussing the most unpopular opinions in the show, one fanu/Robbie06261995commented that he hated the William Lewis episodes. A couple of other fans too supported this view. When asked for the reason why it didn’t impress them, theRedditorshared that the character wasn’t interesting and that it was infuriating to watch how Olivia Benson handled the situation.
Anotherfan, who has since deleted their account, shared that the main characters, particularly Benson, were put through a lot of stress just for the sake of it. The fan didn’t like the way Lewis was killed off at the end of his arc.

During a 2015 interview withSlate, longtime showrunner Warren Leight weighed in on the criticism of Schreiber’s arc being too creepy and the episodes being pretty explicit. He shared,“Some people were legitimately disturbed by those episodes.”However, he also shared the William Lewis episodes were“by far the most popular”during his time on the show.
Pablo Schreiber’sHaloWas Canceled After Two Seasons

After two seasons at Paramount+, the streamer announced that the series will not move forward with a third season (via Variety).
An Underrated 2012 Halo Live Action Should’ve Been the Template for Pablo Schreiber’s Paramount Series
Schreiber starred as Master Chief John-117, a genetically engineered Spartan supersoldier engaged in a 26th-century bloody war. The biggest criticism of the series among gamers was the derivative writing that lost touch with the source material. Fans hated that the show took too much liberty with the canon and even went on totake off Master Chief’s helmet.
However, from a critical standpoint, the cancelation comes after the second season showed a massive improvement from the first. TheRotten Tomatoesscore for the second season was 90%, which compared to thefirst season’s 70%was a huge jump.

The website consensus read thatHalo‘s second seasonwas leaner and meaner and came close to realizing the IP’s potential. It appears that only gaming fans hate Schreiber’s role in the series.
Schreiber’s disturbingSVUperformance is now available for streaming on Peacock.
