One Pieceis fraught with betrayals, tests of loyalty, and unseen twists. Eiichiro Oda likes to create characters with moral dilemmas, and Kuzan might be the best example of them all. No one knows where his loyalty lies. Is he really loyal to Blackbeard, or will he turn out to be a double agent?

As the finale ofOne Pieceapproaches, it is these stray pieces of pawns that have the biggest chances of turning the tide of war. Is Kuzan a permanent member of Teach’s crew, a SWORD member, aligned with the Revolutionary forces, or just an independent man?

Will Kuzan Betray Blackbeard inOne Piece?

Kuzan’s loyalty has been questioned since time immemorial. His actions while he was in the Marines went against the goals of the World Government. Not only did he let Nico Robin live, but he also did not harm Jaguar D. Saul since the giant is alive and well on Elbaf Island. Now that he has joined the crew of Blackbeard, his actions still don’t align with the pirate’s goals.

One Piece: The Craziest Tinfoil Theory Claims Oda Has Already Foreshadowed Kuzan Betraying Blackbeard That Many Fans Have Missed

Afan theorystates that Aokiji Kuzan might betray Blackbeard. Aokiji is one of the Ten Titanic Captains of the Blackbeard Pirates and is in command of the tenth ship. The real-life Titanic was destroyed by an iceberg, and Kuzan has the Hie Hie no Mi fruit that lets him create, control, and transform himself into ice. Thus, he could be the metaphorical iceberg that sinks Blackbeard’s plans.

Given that there have beenmultiple traitors in One Piece, Kuzan, who is an already ambiguous character, obviously raises suspicion. In the previous arc, Stussy betrayed the Cipher Poll, and York betrayed Vegapunk. There is no doubt that a powerful crew like Blackbeard might also have a traitor amongst them. But Blackbeard himself might not fully trust Aokiji and could be keeping him on a tight leash. Teach himself murdered Thatch to get his hands on the Yami Yami no Mi. So, if anyone knows about betrayals, it is him.

All of Kuzan’s Actions Might be to Derail Blackbeard

The theory also states that the reason Kuzan fought Garp was to make Blackbeard trust his motives. However, he might have been secretly allied with Garp all along. His credibility as a SWORD member is also there to be discussed. According to Kuzan himself, members of Swords are Marines who are also not Marines. They have submitted their resignations on paper, but in reality, their loyalty to the World Government remains, and they operate as a secret force.

SWORD members can disregard any orders and act however they like without any repercussions. Thus, Kuzan could have joined the pirates and still remained a SWORD member. He openly discussed the concept of SWORD with Blackbeard, which made fans believe that he was no longer aligned with the World Government since it was too risky of a move.
