Rapper Common has been in the news this week thanks to his bookAnd Then We Rise. Common made appearances on several talk shows to promote his new non-fiction book. At the same time, he was asked questions about his personal life, particularly his rumored relationship with singer Jennifer Hudson.
During an appearance onToday with Hoda & Jenna, Common was quizzed about his romantic life and discussed his plans for getting married. In the conversation, Common hinted that he was indeed dating Hudson and could consider getting married, albeit on one condition. Common Is Ready to Get Married on One Condition
Lonnie Rashid Lynn, aka Common, recently appeared onToday with Hoda & Jenna, where he promoted his new book. During the interview, Common was also asked about his relationship with Jennifer Hudson. Common seemingly confirmed he and Hudson were dating when he appeared onThe Jennifer Hudson Showin the same week.
Common was asked whether Hudson was the “one” for him, implying whether he and Hudson were dating to get married. In response, Common stated the following:
“I feel like I have grown and the work that I’ve done on myself has allowed me to see that I am a marrying type.”
The 51-year-old rapper who has never been married, revealed that his perspective on relationships and marriage has changed over the last few years. He had realized that he would want to settle down and get married when the time was right. However, getting married would also depend on his partner’s feelings.
“I would communicate with that person and if she’s feeling that, then why not?”
Common made the above comment explaining the only caveat in his eventual marriage plans. During the interview, Common was also asked about his appearance on Hudson’s show, where he seemingly confirmed his and Hudson’s romance to the public despite being a private person.

Common Confirmed Romance With Jennifer Hudson on the Latter’s Show
While speaking with the hosts ofToday with Hoda & Jenna, Common also spoke about admitting to being in a relationship with Hudson when he appeared onThe Jennifer Hudson Show. Common stated that he had a good time on Hudson’s show and the couple got to be their honest and loving selves.
Common appeared onThe Jennifer Hudson Showon the July 17, 2025, episode of the show. During his conversation with Hudson, the host asked Common about his dating life. Common teased his relationship with Hudson by joking that his current partner was an EGOT winner like himself.

Hudson completed the EGOT when she won a Tony Award in 2022, thus confirming that Common was talking about her when referencing his romantic partner.
“I’m in a relationship that is with one of the most beautiful people I ever met in life. She’s smart, she loves God, she has something real down-to-earth about her, she’s talented.”
Common made the above statement about his partner, who he later implied was Hudson. Common also described his and Hudson’s relationship as a happy place, a sentiment he would later echo onToday with Hoda & Jenna. Thus, Common seemingly confirmed that he was dating Jennifer Hudson.
