As we have seen with several recent AAA releases such asGod of War Ragnarok,Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and evenElden Ring’s DLC, authentic voice acting can take a great game and make it even better. BioWare understands this perfectly, as seen in a recent video with a voice actor from the upcoming game!

Dragon Age: The Veilguard Voice Acting Sessions Were Demanding for Everyone Involved

Voice acting for games has come a long way over the years. Where before voice-over artists were only required to deliver lines, now they must also do a degree of motion capture.

This helps to more realistically match the voice acting to the expressions and actions shown on screen. While that isn’t the case with this voice actor forDragon Age, she still had to immerse herself in the role.

Alix Wilton Regan, who voiced The Female Inquisitor inDragon Age: Inquisition, is a veteran voice actor who knows what it takes to deliver a stellar performance. She is also dedicated to her craft, ready to go the extra mile to ensure authentic delivery. To achieve this forThe Veilguard, she and others on the team were willing to do whatever it took.

A video floating around on X has shown how the crew is willing to take unconventional routes to ensure they get the perfect voice-acting lines. In the satirical behind-the-scenes video, the voice actor takes a swig of water only to spit it out onto the crew member. Sadly, the bin doesn’t seem to be of much help, as the member is left drenched by the end of the session.

Games in the Series Are Breaking Expected Norms

Games such asBaldur’s Gate 3have shown that there are still many RPG players out there seeking a unique experience. However, withDragon Age: The Veilguardadopting a more action-based combat approach, fans of the series are sad that the franchise has turned away from the tactical-based combat from earlier entries.

The game also takes a more inclusive approach, allowing players to customize parameters such as enemy health and combat timing. To some purists in the community, this may seem like unnecessary handholding and also a way of cheating, but the director of the game has explicitly stated that is not the case.

Fans are eager to see if any returning characters are going to make an appearance in the upcoming title. The game is expected to launch later this year, so fans won’t be waiting long for their next BioWare fix.
