This was a conscious decision, as she wanted to be very careful about who she had her first time with. The actress confessed that she had heard a lot of horrible stories from her friends about their first time.
Due to this, she did not want her first time to be with someone she wasn’t serious with, specifically mentioning that she wanted to be in love with the person she did it with. She revealed that because of this ideology, she wanted to make sure that Weatherly was in love with her before she decided to take that big step, afraid that he would leave if he wasn’t.
I was a virgin. I knew I wanted to be in love with the first person I slept with, because for almost everyone I knew, the first experience made them feel like s**t. So I wanted to be really careful that he was going to be in love with me and wasn’t just going to leave me.

She further explained that there were other issues plaguing their relationship. Since they were both up-and-coming actors, they were very focused on their careers and busy with acting. This made it difficult for them to coexist as artists.
She revealed that because of this failed relationship, she vowed that she would never date an actor again. Alba has been married to producer Cash Warren since 2008.
