In the world of entertainment and pop culture, few shows have left a mark as iconic as Sarah Jessica Parker’sSex and the City. A beloved TV show that continues to be loved and watched even years after its conclusion, it is unfortunately not without controversies. And the most controversial aspect of the show lies in its ending.

Even the singer Megan Thee Stallion, who discovered the show only recently, has been grossed out by the series end. In a surprising revelation, the bold and fearless personality revealed how the HBO series left her upset.
Megan Thee Stallion is Disappointed bySex and the City‘s Ending
Megan Thee Stallion, the singer-songwriter, and rapper known best for her unapologetic persona, recently revealed her new-found obsession withSex and the City. Starring the likes ofSarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, Kim Cattrall, and Cynthia Nixon, the HBO romantic comedy-drama ended in 2004, but it continues to garner attention due to its ‘liberating’ and ‘feminist’ themes.

But what fans for years have found an issue with is the way the series ended, destroying its feminist and forward-thinking buildup in a single episode. And even Stallion, in a recent appearance onThe Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, couldn’t help but express how broken-hearted she was with its end.
Because the way Sex and the City ended, you know, I was a little upset… because I don’t understand what’s happening.

Revealing that she keeps squeezing the drama into her busy schedule, the singer spoke like a true fan of the series. Calling Jessica Parker’s character insane, Stallion then went on to rate everySex and the Citycharacter in that famous unabashed way of hers. Yet what she stated about the series’ disappointing end sticks out, for even now fans continue to berate the series for its upsetting finale.
Sex and the CityFans Will Never Forgive the Way the Series Ended
The reasonSex and the Citywas so famous and continues to be famous is its core message of female independence. Throughout the series, Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw is this wild, unapologetic, woman who lives life on her own terms with a sense of self-importance and self-sufficiency. Yet when it comes to the end, her every likable attribute goes to the ditch as she ends up reconciling with one person who has been incessantly cruel to her, Mr. Big.

While the other three characters had a sweet and remarkably well-written ending, it was Carrie’s ending that many felt was rushed and unjustifiable (seeReddit). Given how she had always been self-reliant and put herself first, her ending up with Big not only seemed like a cheap act for the sake of giving a cliche happy ending but also undermined the whole message of female empowerment.
By showcasing all the characters happily married and settling down, the end seems unrealistic and rushed, for how can a series after years of promoting self-aware and independent women just make them settle down as their only path to happiness? Thus, an overall disappointment that promoted an unrealistic fairytale, it is but understandable that Megan Thee Stallion and the series’ millions of fans continue to be dissatisfied by its end.

Sex and the Cityis available to be streamed on Netflix.
