Inosuke Hashibira from Koyoharu Gotouge’sDemon Slayeris known for his arrogant yet comedic behavior. He is one of the main characters in the series and has grown considerably since he joined forces with Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Zenitsu. However, growth is not limited to physical strength and abilities.

When Inosuke was introduced in the series, he was hellbent on killing every demon in the world and always expressed anger, even at his allies. However, staying around Tanjiro helped him get a little control over his feelings. This was seen whenDemon Slayerfans saw Inosuke cry for the first time duringDemon Slayer: The Movie: Mugen Train.
Inosuke’s English voice actor, Bryce Papenbrook, talked about his experience while voicing Inosuke and how difficult it is to voice a character who is always screaming and shouting at others. He also revealed how he was able to make Inosuke cry during one of the most emotional scenes in the entire series.

Bryce Papenbrook’s Has Been Working Out Just Like Inosuke
BuzzFeedinterviewed the English dub voice cast ofDemon Slayerand asked them about their experience while voicing the characters of one of the biggest anime series of all time. Inosuke’s voice actor, Papenbrook, explains that voicing Inosuke is like a workout, and he also has to train just like his character from the series.
“It is probably going to be another Demon Slayer”: Solo Leveling Gets Compared to the Hottest Anime in Recent Times But That’s Bad News for a Valid Reason
Papenbrook stated:
“Each recording session as Inosuke is definitely a workout. Fortunately, I can maintain his yelling voice for days. Like Inosuke, I’ve been “training my ass off” for years. My vocal training began when I was teaching martial arts growing up. I would teach multiple classes daily, and constantly yell at my students to motivate them.”
According to the voice actor, providing voice to a loud character like Inosuke is tough, but Papenbrook has been training for this kind of role since his early days when he was teaching martial arts. He used to yell at his students, and all that screaming helped him control the voice for his role inDemon Slayer.

Inosuke’s Voice Actor Wanted Him To Cry The Most
While talking about the most impactful performances of their characters, Papenbrook recalled the most emotional scene ofDemon Slayer – The Movie: Mugen Train, whenRengoku was killedby Akaza, and the rest of the characters couldn’t do much about it. Papenbrook points out that this was the most emotional moment in Inosuke’s life.
“But I think the most impactful scene for Inosuke so far was when we see him cry at the end of Mugen Train. It takes a lot for Inosuke to show that kind of emotion, but if he’s going to go there, he’ll cry harder than everyone else. I tried to give him the ugliest cry I could. It’s funny to think this, but I can’t wait to find out if there are more ugly tears in his future.”

Demon Slayer To the Hashira Training Movie Might Upset Young Fans After Recent Revelation
Papenbrook pointed out, that being a hardheaded character, expressing emotion for Inosuke was truly a big moment. Which is why he wanted to make it iconic, so he decided to give him the ugliest cry. This was a way to show the fans that Inosuke had some kind of emotional growth during his journey inDemon Slayer.
