In aninterview with Forbes,TBATE‘s author TurtleMe shared that he never expected it to be successful or had any confidence in its potential. He revealed:
It wasn’t really planned. I had in mind the premise and some ideas for the world, but I just started publishing. Once I saw how it was embraced by fans, I thought I should probably take it more seriously.
TurtleMe began working onTBATE‘s story in 2014 as a creative outlet from his day job in the finance industry, initially publishing first-draft content directly on the web platform Royal Road.
Though he initially startedTBATEas acreative pastime, he was taken aback by the positive feedback from fans and their support on Patreon.
