TheBlack Cloveranime was a great adaptation of its manga counterpart. It enlivened the panels from the manga spectacularly. While most of the aspects of the anime were well-received in the beginning, fans had their reservations about Asta’s voice. As the anime progressed, fans warmed up to the character and the way his voice actor brought him to life.

Asta looks determined and he has shards of glass around him in Black Clover anime

Now, the same fans wouldn’t trade Asta and his voice for anything in this world. Surprisingly, Gakuto Kajiwara, the voice actor of Asta, almost missed out on the role during the auditions. Asta wasn’t the only character inBlack CloverKajiwara aimed for.

Gakuto Kajiwara on His Role as Asta

Asta was Gakuto Kajiwara’s breakout role in the industry. Initially, fans had some gripes regarding his loudness as Asta. With time, the voice actor took all the feedback and further improved his performance. In an interview (via Crunchyroll), Kajiwara shared how he almost lost the role during the auditioning process. Kajiwara auditioned for both Yuno and Asta, and he got a second audition for Asta. But right before the third audition, he lost his voice by over-practicing. Despite being certain that he no longer had a chance, he landed the job anyway.

I figured I had no chance of getting the role anymore, but that’s when I got the call saying I got the part.

The makers must have felt that Kajiwara’s voice captured Asta’s personality. And he did justice to Asta’s loud and lively personality. Voicing for Asta helped him gain recognition in the industry but also acquainted him with other voice actors.

First, if I hadn’t gotten to play Asta, I wouldn’t have been able to meet all of my senpai voice actors or the staff I’ve worked with. Being able to meet all of them has been very important to me.

This statement sounds similar to Asta’s relationship with all his seniors in the Black Bulls. Meeting Yami and the others was a big part of Asta’s journey. He trained with them to get stronger and now in the final war, he is fighting alongside them. Asta has come a long way and it’s heartwarming to see him achieve greater things. Kajiwara also spoke about Asta’s ability to move people with his determination.

Whether it’s the readers or the characters, Asta’s determination and strong will is intriguing to people. They want to see how things work out for him and in this way they acknowledge Asta’s special ability. Kajiwara shared that he had been working to improve his acting skills, so whenBlack Cloveranime finally returns, he can give it his all.
