Despite failures with recent titles, the recent trend in live-service games does not look like it’s slowing down anytime soon. Rocksteady’sSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice LeagueandAvengersfailed miserably as a live title but then sprungHelldivers 2out of nowhere to achieve the unexpected success that surprised every other studio.

On the flipside, though, the success ofHelldivers 2has now reopened the doors to more live projects, just when studios seemed to shy away from them. Despite past failed projects, WB Games is now recruiting for a role to assist Monolith Productions (MP).
WB Games Recruiting for Monolith Productions’ Wonder Woman
Back in November last year, MP posted a job listing for the position of Lead Software Engineer, Gameplay. The recruitment post explicitly mentioned a requirement for “experience in helping maintain a live software product or game” which was quickly redacted.

WB Games and MP continued to insist that the upcoming title will be a single-player title, as originally announced. MP has had two successful single-player titles in theMiddle-Earthfranchise and would have made perfect sense to helm another single-player title.
That could still change, as WB Games recently posted ajob listinglooking for an External Development Artist. The job states the role will not be limited to working for WB Games and will “support Monolith Productions” on their single-player title.

WB Games could bring all the lessons learned from the failure of previous live titles they don’t get repeated if the upcoming title does indeed end up being another live title, as indicated by earlier job listings. Fans on Reddit aren’t as amused by the partnership between the two studios, as several fans commented, stating their fear of the title ending up being another failure.
Fans Fear for Yet Another Live Service Failure
Fans onRedditfear the upcoming title could join an infamous list of Live title failures that already includesSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice LeagueandAvengersamong several other titles.
Before the news of WB wanting to double down on live service crap, I was actually hyped for a Wonder Woman game.

Now I’m just worried that it’ll be more live service bullsh*t.
Another fancommentedon the number of times WB Games has put up several statements stressing the fact that the upcoming title will remain a single-player game, which is highly unlike other studios that choose to remain quiet most of the time.

Stephen Totilo, a well-known reporter covering video games, recently gave context to one of the WB Discovery Executive’s statements about the studio looking to explore more “live service games“. Totilopostedon X that the statement was made to investors at a Morgan Stanley conference and had nothing to do with any specific title.
Fans will now hope for the upcoming title to either remain a single-player game as announced and hit the same success asHogwarts Legacyor, if it ends up being a live title, for WB Games to bring in all their lessons learned from previous failures.
