K-pop fans are known best for being faithful to their idols, but sometimes their incessant attachment leads to some tragic events. And it seems, this time it might be America-born solo idol Jessi who might lose her career due to the actions of these fans.
The singer was recently caught up in an incident with a fan who was attacked by one of Jessi’s entourage, leading to a police report. Although she has denied knowing the alleged perpetrator, the event continues to attract attention. Recently, the singer apologized to the fan, regretting she was not of much help when the assault occurred.
Jessi Apologizes to Fan Who Was Attacked by Singer’s Group
Back on June 08, 2025, a male teenage fan spotted Jessi in Apgujeong and decided to ask her for a photograph. While Jessi denied the request with civility, a person believed to be part of her group attacked the teenager and punched him, leading theGumsinger to intervene.
While the CCTV footage shows, viaX, Jessi intervening but leaving afterward, the fan reportedly got the police involved. As per the South Korean news outletJTBC, the mother of the victim reportedly later visited the singer’s agency, where she was told the perpetrator was Chinese and did not know Jessi at all.

Yet, Jessi was reportedly summoned by the Gangnam Police Station and was reportedly questioned for over six hours. While arriving at the police station, reporters caught up with the idol and she told them (viaKorea Now),
I want to first say that I hope they find the person who hit [my fan] soon and that he gets punished. I will answer all questions raised today [during the investigation]. I am really sorry.
Although Jessi clarified she had not met the assailant before the incident, the police are currently investigating the matter thoroughly, verifying the singer’s claims. OnInstagramtoo, Jessi posted an apology note, expressing her regret for not doing more.
Amidst the Drama, Jessi’s Agency Terminates Contract with the Singer
While innumerable anti-fans run hate campaigns against the K-pop singer for not protecting her fan and allegedly lying about not knowing the assailant who attacked her fan, Jessi’s career has suffered a major setback. After dabbling with several agencies, from Psy’s P Nation to Jay Park’s More Vision, she joined DOD Entertainment in September 2024.

However, amid the drama that has occurred in the aftermath of her fan’s police report, the singer has been dropped by her agency apparently at her own request. As perLifted Asia, her now-ex-agency released a statement stating,
We would like to apologize again for any concern caused by recent events. After careful consideration and discussions with Jessi regarding her future activities, we have mutually agreed to terminate her contract as of October 18 at Jessi’s request. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Jessi for her time with us and wish her all the best in her future endeavors.
Splitting just a month after joining the agency, many believe the singer is now at risk of losing her career. Known best for being unapologetic and unabashed, the singer is already not treated right by Korean fans for her being too open, and this controversy might make her lose the footing she had achieved in the Korean music industry after years of hard work and struggle.
