With the success of video game adaptations like the iconicThe Last of Usand the recently released Prime Video original seriesFallout, the upcomingBorderlandsfilm is being expected to continue this trend of excellent adaptation for the fandom of video game culture.

And it seems like Ariana Greenblatt, one of the lead stars in the film, prepared for her role of Tiny Tina with inspiration from none other than Margot Robbie.
Since Robbie’s role as the iconic Harley Quinn from the now-dismantled DCEU sits closely in line with how Tiny Tina is in the film, Greenblatt had a pretty good muse to help herself take performance cues from to fine-tune her act as the character.

It’s quite difficult to get into character for any film star who is working on a project at that time, especially when those characters are supposed to be unhinged, unusual and unpredictable, like the character of Tiny Tina that Ariana Greenblatt will be playing in the upcomingBorderlandsfilm.
Thankfully, she hadMargot Robbieto take creative cues from, as the Australian actress played a role similar to hers in the DCEU in the form of the infamous Harley Quinn, who Greenblatt also had the chance of working with in 2023’sBarbie.

In a recent exclusive interview withIGNat the 2024 CinemaCon, the young actress was quite excited to reveal that she had a lot of things incorporated into her character that were inspired by Robbie’s antiheroine character in the upcoming film that also featuresCate Blanchett. Greenblatt said:
“I read the sides and immediately thought of (Robbie’s Harley) and that’s one of the first things I told her actually for the process of getting Barbie. I watched how she prepared and she read the comic books and she did so much work to build Harley and watching her helped me build Tina.”

Along with that, she also revealed that one of her close friends displayed similar carefree characteristics that Tiny Tina does in the film, which was more inspiration for her. She said:
“She fully just had this very carefree mindset and didn’t care about embarrassing herself and would say and do weird voices and things and movements.I was like, ‘I just want you to know, I’m acting just like you in this movie.’ And she was like, ‘Great, awesome.’”
