Shark Tankhas been a good show for an aspiring entrepreneur. In the midst of innovations and creativity, a few get the chance to showcase their creation in front of five venture capitalists, aka the “Sharks.” The show holds quite a big following and so do the investors. But out of the lot, the most interesting would be the Canadian-Irish businessman Kevin O’Leary.

On the show, the public gets to see his sarcastic and blunt side. The same side that he used to call out U.S. Presidential candidate Kamala Harris as well. In this, he criticized a particular scheme of hers, which in his opinion is a very bad idea. So much so that he’s even ready to sit down with her and explain the same himself.
Kevin O’Leary Calls Out Kamala Harris on Her Housing Scheme
Kevin O’Leary is known for his no-nonsense attitude onShark Tankand always has a knack for looking at the bottom line. The same he did when he got to know about the $25,000 house down payment plan introduced by Kamala Harris. This idea aims to make buying a home more affordable.
But when the same was brought forth in front of O’Leary, he was skeptical about how effective the entire proposal would be. Talking about the same in aninterview (via Mediaite), he called the entire policy areallybad idea. O’Leary knows what he is talking about given his decades of experience in the real estate field.

Mark Cuban Left Shark Tank Because He’s Losing Something More Valuable Than Money
So much so that he was ready to discuss the said scheme in a live interview with the U.S. Presidential candidate. He added:
I’m in the real estate business. That’s a really bad idea, an immensely bad idea, an incredibly bad idea. And I think somebody should talk about that with her. I’d like to interview her on that idea. I’ll do the interview. I want it live! I want to do that interview because I know real estate, I know state policy, I know regulation, please, let me do that interview

Besides this, Harris is also aiming to build 3 million new homes and provide tax breaks for builders. However, theShark Tankjudge is not sure how feasible these schemes would be and if they’d actually make any improvement in the housing market.
A Financial Lesson That Kevin O’Leary’s Mother Taught Him
On the show, the public has witnessed Kevin O’Leary giving valuable insights and lessons to the contestants. But in real life, his mother taught himthe importance of investing in high-quality products rather than buying cheap ones. In his book,Cold Hard Truth on Men, Women & Money, O’Leary recounted an interesting anecdote.
He admired his mother’s Chanel jackets that she used to wear every year at their family’s Christmas dinners in the 1980s. TheShark Tankjudge also remarked that he thought it must have cost her a lot of money. But to his surprise, she told him that the jacket was actually 2 decades old and that she had purchased it in the ’60s.

So, she taught him to“treat everything you buy as an investment.”After his mother’s death in 2008, O’Leary was appointed as the executor of her estate, which included her extensive jacket collection. He added that he applies the same principle in his own life, focusing on purchasing clothing of high quality.
