Yuki Tabata’sBlack Cloveris often considered one of the worthy successors ofNaruto. And it’s a well-deserved title, given how hard the author has worked on his manga. It was Tabata’s childhood dream to be published in Shounen Jump, and once it came true, the love from fans touched his heart.
An interview with Yuki Tabata was published in a French magazine in 2016, where the author opened his home and studio to the interviewers. The author spent most of his time in his workshop, which was evident from the piles of manga and drafts.
Yuki Tabata Didn’t Take a Vacation in Three Years For the Sake ofBlack Clover
Inthe interview,Yuki Tabatawas asked about his daily schedule. The author answered that for the first two to three days of the week, he talks to the editor about the upcoming parts ofBlack Clover. Then, he gets busy writing the script, which leaves him another two-three days to illustrate everything.

Next, the author admitted that whenBlack Cloverhad just begun serialization, he only slept for three hours a night due to the stress. As afairly new mangakawho was beginning a new series, some amount of stress and overworking is expected. However, just three hours of sleep is unsustainable for anyone.
Right now, I sleep six hours a night, so it’s okay. The problem is that I haven’t taken a vacation in three years. It’s a hard job.
Black Cloverentered its best arc recently and it could be said that the manga was at its peak. However, Yuki Tabata’sserious health issuesled to multiple breaks. The intense schedule that came with weekly manga became too much, which forced the author to transfer his work to Jump GIGA magazine from Weekly Shonen Jump. Currently, the manga receives new chapter every four months.

Despite his initial pledge, the author did face several health risks later, and was forced to take breaks. Each time, fans were supportive of Tabata, as his health mattered more than new chapters. Tabata was so engrossed with creating the manga that he didn’t even have an idea of how successfulBlack Cloverwas.
The author admitted that he worked at his studio, which he almost never left, so he wasn’t very aware ofBlack Clover‘s success. Through the interview, he expressed heartfelt thanks to his readers. He also stated that his goal is to initiate the same feeling in his readers that he felt when he began reading manga as a kid.
