However, the same can’t be said about the actor behind the role, especially considering his wife, Nancy Carell’s experience of acting alongside him in the NBC sitcom.

The actress-comedian starred in the sitcom as Carol Stills. And while reflecting on her experience she revealed how starring alongside her husband left her feeling “intimidated” by his acting skills, as she navigated the return to her acting roots.

During a discussion on their podcast,Office Ladies,formerThe Officestars Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey reflected on Nancy Carell’s experience working on the show.

Kinsey, a close friend of the actress, shared that when she asked her about her experience working alongside her husband,Steve Carell, she admitted feeling “intimidated” by his acting skills. She told Angela Kinsey,
I was so intimidated because he’s so good. I mean, he was really nice to me, of course. But I’ve sort of you know, I had retired and having our kids. That’s what I was doing. I was being a mom. So I felt a little rusty.

However, she also noted that despite feeling a little “rusty,” she enjoyed her time starring in the sitcom. Known for starring onSaturday Night LiveandThe Daily Show,Nancy Carell had taken a break from acting to focus on family life.

“Oh, my gosh. Well, our kids were six and three. So I had very few functioning brain cells at that point,”Kinsey, who portrayed Angela, recalled her words when asked about what she remembered from filming the sitcom.

During their conversation on theOffice Ladiespodcast,Jenna Fischerand Angela Kinsey also reflected on Steve Carell and his wife Nancy Carell’s dynamic on the set ofThe Office.
“Oh. She is so great,”Fischer said talking about theSNLalum as she reflected on the Oscar-nominated actor’s “adoration” for his wife, which was visible through his reaction every time she was on the set.

And Steve’s face would just light up every time she came to set, either if she was in a scene or if she was just coming by with the kids for a visit. I mean, his adoration of her… would go all across his face.
“They just were the cutest of cutie-cutes as a couple,”she said before Kinsey added,“They are so sweet with one another. I just loved them so much.”

Steve Carell and Nancy Carell reportedly met when the actress was a student in an improv class he was teaching at The Second City Training Center. The two married in 1995 and share two children, Elisabeth Anne Carell and John Carell.
