Game of Thronesstarted off as a great show and arguably became one of the best things on TV in its prime. The vast and sprawling narrative along with the intricate characters made us fall in love with George R.R. Martin’s world. Yet, in the end, it made many mistakes and left fans disappointed. ButHouse of the Dragon, its prequel, restored people’s faith in the franchise.

However, it seems like the showrunners are going to sabotage the one chance they have at rebuilding trust. The debut was promising and explored the events that led to the Targaryen Civil War, but it seems like the show is not immune to the mistakes made by its predecessors.
House of the DragonrepeatsGame of Thrones’mistake
As per recent reports,House of the Dragonseason 3 will only have eight episodes. This claim is made by a fan account who is allegedly in touch with an insider, but it has still led to widespread concern among fans (viaWinter is Coming). Moreover, even season 2 had only eight episodes, so the showrunners could certainly stick to the format for yet another season.

Can we go back to Seasons? Have more episodes like it’s a miracle if it’s has 12 episodes a season. If this was 2000s, it would have 20 episodes a season I missed these days
It seems like HBO hasn’t learned anything from its mistakes in season 2💀I hope they at least give it a good budget this season.

However, people were disappointed by season 2 because it felt anticlimactic and underwhelming. Not much happened in the finale, except a slow build-up for the upcoming events. So, creating yet another season with only eight episodes could lead them down the same path for the second time.

The extended production timeline isn’t helping either, because the prolonged gaps between seasons make viewers lose interest. The expected season is not going to bereleased until 2026, which is indeed a long wait for merely a few episodes.
Rushed arcs inHouse of the Dragon—will the downfall be likeGame of Thrones?
The decision to decrease the number of episodes could be detrimental toHouse of the Dragonsbecause evenGame of Thronestried to pull the same and failed miserably. The conclusion felt rushed, and pivotal character arcs were ended hurriedly, without any major payoff.
every single time in game of thrones history when they’ve arbitrarily cut down the number of episodes it has always backfired and brought down the show’s quality. i geniunly don’t know why they keep doing this to literally their biggest most succesful franchisehttps://t.co/qcucJbRCrF

There is no way they can wrap up entirety of dance in just 16 episodes.
If the reports are true, history will repeat itself andHouse of the Dragonwill not fully explore major arcs, including the battles pushed from the season 2 finale. The significant political conflicts in King’s Landing, and personal grudges, all of these key plot points will be condensed.

Aegon’s Conquest Can Answer the Biggest ‘House of the Dragon’ Mystery, But Game of Thrones Has Ruined It Beyond Salvation
Eight episodes might not be enough to cover the Targaryen dynasty’s downfall, especially when R.R. Martin’s source material, i.e.,Fire & Bloodis so detailed and extensive. So, will this risky gamble pay off, or will we have another HBO show with a lackluster finale?
