Nicole Kidman was on the verge of retiring from acting during the early 2000s, but she was inspired by someone to continue her passion for acting. The actress, known for her roles inMoulin RougeandThe Hours, planned to settle down after she had a child.

She was previously married to action star Tom Cruise, and being tied to one of the most in-demand actors of all time, she would have felt so burned out from all the press and paparazzi. This was the root cause of why Kidman wanted to quit Hollywood.
Nicole Kidman Reveals She Almost Gave Up Hollywood To Live In A Farm
Speaking withDeadline, actressNicole Kidmanshared she had a lot of thoughts about retiring after she gave birth. The plan was to live quietly in a farm without the attention of the media.
There have been times where I have, and particularly after I gave birth to Sunday Rose I was like, ‘I’m done, I’m going to live on this farm in Nashville and I’m done.’

She also toldThe Guardianthat upon reaching her 40s, she realized the industry was too harsh for her. She wanted to “have my baby and sit on a farm.” But not until her mother told her, “I don’t think you should just give up.” This was all she needed to ignite the lost spark in her.
I was quite convinced I could grow vegetables and be at home and be very satisfied with that, but was pushed quite substantially by my mum. Friends, too – I have friendships that have permeated my life.

Kidman also said that many of her career decisions were encouraged by people close to her. She admitted feeling “not always coming from a sense of confidence.” She meant that “a lot of times I’m relying heavily on the people around to say, ‘You’ve got more in you.’”
