Kajiwara has a significant involvement in making the show successful by lending his voice to the character. When asked how he landed the gig, he reflected that he initially auditioned for both the lead characters, but got selected for a second audition for Asta.

He also delved into the rigorous audition process stating the outlet,

After the second audition [for Asta], I got asked to come again, but when I went for my third audition, I practiced too much and lost my voice. I figured I had no chance of getting the role anymore.

While he lost hope of getting any chance to get selected, a miracle actually happened as he received a call informing him about his hiring for the role.
