In the last couple of years, we’ve seen a rise in the number of battle royale titles. It all kicked off with PUBG’s incredible success in 2017, which made even FPS giants such as Call of Duty tip their toes into the genre to capitalize on its popularity.

The possibilities are endless when it comes to aMortal Kombatbattle royale game. NetherRealm Studio could integrate the series’ iconic brutal combat with the last-man-standing gameplay. Players could select classic fighters, such as Johnny Cage, and fight against others on an interactive map filled with power-ups, traps, and dangers inspired by the franchise’s deep lore. Heck, instead of guns and blades, we could see the use of pure martial arts to fight it out!

Over the last couple of months, we’ve seen the developers giving us tons of Kameo fighters, but it seems like things are slowing down.

Ferra will now be releasing alongside Takeda on July 23, marking the end of the first planned expansions forMortal Kombat 1.
