In Guardians of the Galaxy #19 by Brian Michael Bendis, Peter Quill has shown impressive feats by killing Thanos in the Cancerverse (only for Thanos to come back to life later). But the question is, just how strong is he in this game?

Well, to answer that, he has very few abilities in his kit. But this is something that makes Star-Lord one of thebest characters for beginners, especially if you have good aim.
However, he does come with his flaws. For example, his guns don’t do much damage from long-range, and as such, he is most effective in close-to-mid-range fights.

So here is everything you should know about his abilities and important strategies for playing Star-Lord.
Star-Lord Abilities Explained
Almost all of Star Lord’s abilities are relatively easy to understand. When playing him, you will have to focus more on managing their cooldowns, rather than some fancy trap placement, which you would do when playing someone likeMoon Knight.
Before entering your first-ever match with Star-Lord, it is generally a good idea to try out all of his abilities at least once in practice range.

This should give you a decent idea about his attack range and how using his abilities will feel in real battle.
Description
Element Guns
Use your primary fire to shoot at your enemies with dual guns.
Stellar Shift
Your alt-fire lets you dodge in the direction of where you move while instantly reloading your Element Guns.
Blaster Barrage
Star-Lord starts firing a frenzy of shots in every direction which damages any enemy within his firing range.
Rocket Propulsion
Use Rocket Propulsion to gain movement boost and fly around for a short duration. While flying, you can see a white bar. Star-Lord stops flying when it depletes or if you use Rocket Propulsion again.
Galactic Legend
Star-Lord enters a free flight mode for 8 seconds. Your guns automatically lock onto the targets in the general direction of where you aim, allowing for easier kills.
Marvel Rivals: 9 Quickest Ways To Level Up
While there are no shortcuts to higher ranks in Marvel Rivals, there are a few tips you can keep in mind to speed things up a bit.
Star-Lord Offensive Strategies
When playing Star-Lord, the most important thing that you need to learn is what fights you should commit. Additionally, you also need to analyze the battlefield to determine when it is time to step out and let your team handle the rest.
What Star-Lord lacks in terms of abilities, he covers with his movements and combos. So these are some strategies that should help you come out victorious when you are fighting one or even multiple enemies.

Star-Lord Defensive Strategies
Star-Lord is possibly one of the squishiest characters in the game, even though he has the same 250 HP as most other duelists.
This is because if you are too focused on jumping into fights and use most of them just to get there, you will find it can be really tricky to escape fights.
So, in situations where the enemy team outnumbers you, these are some defensive tricks that will help you survive.
Star-Lord Team-Up Ability
Heroes Needed
Leader’s Soul
Adam Warlock
When playing together with Adam Warlock, Star-Lord can revive himself after dying once every 120 seconds after turning into a cacoon.
Revival abilities in Marvel Rivals are probably some of the best abilities that a character can have or offer. It basically gives you a second chance at fights.
These are especially useful when you nearly killed the enemy but died just before eliminating them as it lets you have another chance to finish what you started.
Considering that Adam Warlock is a member of Guardians of the Galaxy, it is only natural he will help Peter out in a pinch.
The best part about this ability is that when you revive, you come back with full health, so you don’t have to worry about looking for health kits or having a healer nearby.
Star-Lord Counters & How To Deal With Them
Depending on the heroes or villains the enemy team has, Star-Lord can be very weak in certain situations. While his kit allows for escape abilities, they are also needed for combat. So, there can be times when you are out of Rocket Propulsion and Stellar Shift in the worst possible moment.
Snipers can be a big problem for Star-Lord to deal with. So, if you find that the enemy team hasHawkeyeorBlack Widow, you should start upping your movement game. Because the moment you stay in a place for too long there is a good chance they can snipe you out of the air.
A goodSpider-Man,Iron Fist, orMagikcan also be equally problematic for Star-Lord to deal with. These are characters that can eliminate you really fast with their melee attacks before you even have a chance to escape. As Star-Lord lacks any kind of ability that lets him stun his enemies.
Vanguards likeDr StrangeandMagnetocan simply absorb all of Star-Lord’s bullets with their shields. While Peni Parker can immobilize him.
The best way to deal with the snipers is to close in on them sneakily, as the 5-10 meter range is where Star-Lord gets to shine. As for other duelists, you need to be mindful of their locations in battle and whom they are fighting, so that you may decide whether to pick on or get away from them.
Finally, for Vanguards, unless they are super low, or you have a strong opening for finishing these enemies, you should not pick fights with them.
Best Team Comps With Star-Lord
The best duelists to go with Star-Lord areHelaandMoon Knight. Hela is good for long-range fights and consistent damage. So Star-Lord can go around finishing off the enemy team’s healers. Hela can provide better damage when the enemy vanguards and duelists are trying to contest the objective.
For similar reasons to Hela, Moon Knight can also be an excellent option for long-range fights. Although this would require proper Ankh setups.
However, where Moon Knight shines is taking care of hoards of enemies, so even if Star-Lord dies in a fight and the enemy team is clustered while trying to push on your team. Moon Knight should be able to hold them off, if not eliminate some of them.
When it comes to vanguards,Magnetocan pair surprisingly well with Star-Lord. He is more of a traditional tank that works best when blocking enemy projectiles. Magneto can help out Star-Lord or other team members by adding Metal Bulwark shield to them. This can be particularly useful for Star-Lord when all his abilities are in cooldown.
Grootcan also help Peter out in many situations with his walls. He can use them to isolate and trap enemies, after which Star-Lord can sweep in to rain down gunfire with his Element Guns and Blaster Barrage.
Alternatively, if an enemy is chasing Star-Lord, while he is low on health. A well-timed wall can block the enemy off, allowing Star-Lord to get to a health kit or a healer.
For strategists, Star-Lord’s best picks areAdam WarlockandMantis. Both help him out in different but useful ways.
Adam Warlock already gives a major advantage (if used correctly) to Star-Lord with his team-up ability. Additionally, his Avatar Life Stream bounces the heals of his allies, which should make it a bit easier for him to heal Star-Lord even from a safe range.
Lastly, Mantis can be switched withCloak & Dagger. However, Mantis does offer abilities like Spore Slumber and Allied Inspiration, which puts the enemy to sleep temporarily and can increase Star-Lord’s damage, respectively.
So, if your team needs more heals, you’re able to go with Cloak & Dagger, while Mantis is better suited when you want to heal and buff your teammates.
