House of the DragonSeason 2 Finale Leaves Fans Muddy: Cregan Stark Absence Stirs Controversy
House of the DragonSeason 2’s finale was a dragon-sized disappointment, wrapped in mud pie. While the realm was on the brink of all-out war, the showrunners decided to do something with the ‘Winter Wolves crossing the Twins’ finale scene that stirred a major controversy amid fans.
In a recent tweet shared byWesterosies, Lord Cregan Stark was supposed to be featured in theHOTD Season 2finale. However, instead of showcasing the epic arrival of Cregan Stark (Tom Taylor), the makers featured the Lannister twins marching with armies and the infamous mud wrestling match. While this might be a first for Westeros, it certainly isn’t a win for storytelling.

Thefinale episode was a tangled webof personal dramas and political ploys. Tyland Lannister (Jefferson Hall) traveled to the North Sea to meet with The Triarchy—Lys, Myr, and Tyrosh—and bring them onto Team Green. Back in season 1, we saw Daemon (Matt Smith) and Corlys (Steve Toussaint) fight them for the Step Stones’ control.

Now The Triarchy wants the Step Stones back, and Tyland’s promising them the islands in exchange for their loyalty. But Tyland had to earn it the hard way—by mud wrestling Sharako Lohar (Abigail Thorne). Having won the wrestle, Lohar shows approval, and later even asks him to bed her wives.

The internet is ablaze with theories about why the North’s icy presence was MIA from the epic showdown. Social media’s flooded with upset fans accusing showrunners of pulling the finale really fast.
What reason? These changes are making HOTD to suffer poor reviews

Crazy that they take hours of peoples time to make a great scene everyone was waiting for, only to cut it in the final draft.
I don’t know why Lord Cregan Stark scene was deleted, but it was an unfortunate move by the series' creators.pic.twitter.com/aFAeauahxs

I have a feeling alot got cut to make room for a lower budget mud wrestling matchpic.twitter.com/cZG7Brck4D
This is episode 8,doesn’t really make alot of sense, comon man we were waiting for war
I honestly wonder why they cut some parts that would have made the Season Finale even more special. 👀😳🤔🤦🏾♂️pic.twitter.com/Zc0i3CEeNH
Ooh it’s about to go down……I can imagine the scenes
Bad decision by the screenwriters
With the Starks historically being the heart of Westeros drama, their absence was a glaring omission. Fans are demanding answers, and rightly so. Did budget cuts freeze out the King in the North? Or did the showrunners simply miscalculate the impact of such a major character? Only time, or a tell-all interview, will reveal the truth. Stay tuned!
