However, despite playing a suave spy character, similar to Bond, in Matthew Vaughn’s action comedy film, Cavill emphasized that it would not impact his chances of going for the popular franchise role.

Matthew Vaughn Shared Barbara Broccoli Rejected Henry Cavill’s Audition
In a recent interview withSiriusXM, directorMatthew Vaughnrevealed that Henry Cavill was among the finalists considered to don the 007 mantle along with Daniel Craig. During the interview, Vaughn reminisced about the audition process, recalling how both Cavill and Caring were being considered for the role of James Bond.
“When Henry was auditioning for Bond, I was at Pinewood, right? And Daniel was as well at the same time,”he said before adding,“I’d go off and meet with Daniel and [I’d] say what’s going on, and he said there’s this young guy, Henry Cavill I think they’re seeing as well.”
He further shared that although the director preferred Cavill’s audition, theJames Bondproducer Barbara Broccoli preferredDaniel Craig, saying that they decided that theMan of Steelstar was too young. Although Cavill did not say much aboutJames Bond, the actor noted that Daniel Craig“did an amazing job”starring in the franchise.
