While Arrowhead Game Studios’Helldivers 2already borrows elements from various sci-fi movies like Starship Troopers and Aliens, Sony aims for the game to carve its path on the big screen, as a Helldivers 2 movie is now in production.
Sony revealed this during the company’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025 press conference, where it mentioned that it was a collaboration between Sony Productions and Sony Pictures.

Head of PlayStation Productions Asad Qizilbash took the stage at CES 2025, and said (viaIGN), “Looking ahead as to what might come next, I’m excited to announce we are working with Sony Pictures on developing a film adaptation of our amazingly popular PlayStation game Helldivers 2.”
Outside the statement, no other details were shared. Of course, even without that, we can expect a few things to be in the film, such as soldiers fighting against the Terminids for our future and then some. The bigger question is which enemy type will we see in the movie? Will it be the Terminids? The Automatons or the newly introduced Illuminate? Maybe all three?
One thing I hope the movie doesn’t stray far away from is the humor. Helldivers 2 is low-key one of the funniest games out there that’s not afraid to parody itself without trying to hard.
